It is still on! Sent sewn samples off to be tested back in February and they were too busy I guess to test my stuff (something about Covid). Got the samples back finally and shipped off to another testing facility. Just checked and its been over a week and they haven't been delivered yet, but hopefully will make it soon. Once tested, I can make these available for sale. I'll update this thread once I have more news.
Why isn't this making it on the What's New Page? This is the biggest game changer since the sitdrag. @Bigterp @Jefferson10940
It is primarily for the mall cops who want to rappel from the second balcony! Is there another application for this I’m missing outside of it being a climbing rated battle belt? Are you pairing it with something to hunt out of or using it solo in the tree?

I plan to use it in conjunction with a large platform.Interested to hear how others plan to use it (@Nutterbuster).

@Blinginpse and I just had a conversation about how most saddles eventually become uncomfortable because the bottom strap pinches a nerve that runs right there where your butt cheek folds over. You eventually (and for me, it takes almost a full day sit) feel like a toddler sitting in a chair where your feet don't hit the floor. The lower your run your tether, the less this effect is felt, but then you have a 2" strap digging into your kidneys. I think the reason you have a lot of people running back braces is partially to alleviate this. It's a "crutch" kinda like how my knee pads are a crutch when I sit in a sling-style saddle. Some saddles do a better or worse job alleviate the bottom strap from digging in.
A traditional, Eberhartesque sling/steps combo is great and can be really comfortable. Eventually, any static position becomes unbearable for the human body, but it's not a bad system. However you also have the problem of a tether in your face which hampers your draw and rifle mount and swinging a weapon from left to right.
After talking with Brad Kuhnert and playing with an ambush platform, I quickly began to appeciate the approach he took when he started ditching treestands. He basically started with an industrial lineman's belt and just being attached to the tree with his strap thrown around the tree. Not "safe" by today's standards where we want to be tethrd, but at the time that was an industry standard. He eventually made the assassin and the accompanying harness.
Somebody was kind enough to send me one, and while it's awesome in a lot of ways, it's old. Kinda like comparing a 2020 saddle to an original greens. Lot of innovation has taken place over the years. LWCG is coming out with a new harness which I sincerely hope will be modernized, but it will be expensive if they price it comparably with their other products.
Enter the battle belt. With rated loops and a rated buckle, all the DIYer would need is tubular webbing leg loops if they wanted to be kosher. Y'all know I have a death wish, so I cut leg loops off new saddles that come with them. A battle belt with a rated inner belt is right up my alley.
With a system like that, under-cheek pressure is obviously eliminated. You'd probably get insane foot pressure on a ring of steps, but with a nice, roomy platform that isn't an issue. I usually compare proper sling/step use to sitting on the edge of a bar stool. This system is like leaning back against a nice, wide, padded porch rail. And you get to run a very low "tether." Waist high if you'd like. You can't swing around a tree, but you can pivot and turn on the nice, wide platform.
Like @DanO said, not for everybody. But if you like a platform like an assassin or an ambush or the new stuff it looks like trophyline and novix are coming out with, I think you'll definitely like the option of a kidney belt or linemans harness type "saddle."
You would ideally use it with something like a treesqueeze or assassin harness hookup strap and lean into it.So in this setup do you keep your line tight or is it just a lifeline while you are standing on your portable tree porch?

I bought the battle belt with LB last week. I moved everything off my saddle (custom job from Mike Isbell) and added 40’ of OpLux and rappel gear. The pouch on the back replaces the Fannie pack I used last year to hold license, gear hanger, range finder, etc. I’ve tested it out on a dozen hangs the past week and am sold on the approach. The belt with everything weighs about 8.5 lbs, but you don’t feel it since it sits on your hips. I’d drop a couple lbs if I didn’t have the rappel gear.
Makes it real easy to get suited up, and if I decide to run with a different saddle I don’t have to mess with any gear.
Really liked it, more stable than the one on my saddle, probably because it has sturdier loops and it sits higher on your body. Everything on the belt is from DanO except for the holster, I went with Alien Gear since it’s form fitting to the gun and you can easily swap out holsters with the molle adapter.Very cool! Thanks for sharing. How did the LB do? Was there anything unexpected good or bad?
Not sure how I just saw this but yes, I'll get pics. Its a similar set up as DanO's sit drag pic hanging off the battle belt. Not light but really really comfortable.@Jtaylor could you post some pics of your set up?
