EWO Battlebelt with Lineman’s Loop

You can basically run a dual bridge with this set up if wanted for comfort (which may have been the idea). I loosen the battle belt and move it right below my chest. I attach my linesman rope to the battle belt loops and up through my tether carabiner and can then lean into it for back support. The sit drag has a whoopie sling and is adjustable too. Seems like it has a lot going on but there is A LOT of adjustment. View attachment 29756View attachment 29757
Do you still wear a safety or rock climbing harness or do you connect the LB to your tether while you’re in the sitdrag for safety since it’s rated?

I really like these set ups. I’ll be getting one myself at some point.

I don't wear a rock climbing harness with this particular set up. It's rated along with the buckle and I do connect the linesman belt to my tether as a back band. I'd assume if the sit drag ever did give way (which I doubt) I'd have some sore or bruised ribs but I'm aware of the risks.

Imagine this, but with a treesqueeze-type device. Quite comfortable, and if you suffer from noassatal a battle belt carries gear much better than a saddle. #nofloppage
Hey @Nutterbuster. I just put togeather my battle belt "saddle". I went with an ocb and shackle for my tether. I tried a beaner into of the shackle and might go that way as well. It seems like the closer the hook up is to the tree the better. My question is, is this set up safe?

I don't like the idea of using an OCB buckle like that at all. @DanO could weigh in on what they're rated for, but it's a far cry from what climbing rope and biners are rated for. I wouldn't trust those rivets to hold me if something gave. Hundreds of pounds vs thousands.

The shackle is probably fine. I had a screw lock one that was good for like 4,000lbs. They usually say on them what they're rated for.

I'm toying with the idea of using a riggers belt as a hookup. Something like an austrialpin cobra with the d ring. Clip it around the tree, and then run your bridge through the d ring. The materials are rated for the application, and you're not really using it for anything wildly different than its intended purpose, but I feel hesitant recommending it because I haven't played with it. I know you'd be SOL if you managed to bump the cobra buckle loose, but that might only be a concern on paper. I don't know. Haven't played with it yet.

I'm with @Nutterbuster on this one. For tethers and primary life support systems, we need to be using climbing rated equipment. Will the OCB work? I think so, but it has a safe working load of 333 pounds. I've only seen a couple break and it was during the cam over process, but I wouldn't use one in this scenario. A slip off a step or platform and you could be easily exerting more than the safe working limit. We need to be in the 4000+ range.

All of the above, and I’d be concerned about accidentally opening the buckle - catching it with a rope or bow string etc...

Thanks for the info. That is why I came here to ask. I tried a few different hook ups and they all slipped on the tree as I would try to move around the tree for weak and strong side shots. That is what led me to try the ocb. I would love to find a hook up solution to use the battle belt with my ambush and Iwom.

Look at post #60 on this thread. Plus there are other ideas to try too. https://saddlehunter.com/community/index.php?threads/preventing-tether-slide.8511/page-3 If your rope is slipping down the tree try a slip bobber knot slid up to the girth hitch or a prusik hooked into your delta quick link. A tennis ball with a hole/slit or rubber hand ball even works to hold tension on your tether girth hitch junction.

I just started trying this out on my tether for my kite saddle this past week. I like to hang my bow and pack off of my tether and this really does keep it tight. I will try it out on the battle belt. Thanks for the reply.

@Jtaylor You have 1 inch webbing & tri glides attaching your sit drag to your battle belt. Did you find that it's necessary to keep the 2 sections loosely attached together for comfort while hunting or is that to keep the SD from falling while walking in & out?

They probably aren't necessary. I just like them on there for walking in and out as you said and it helps keep it in place so I can be a little more hands free when climbing and rappelling.

@Jtaylor - With your dual bridge set up, does that allow you to transfer your weight on to the BB while hunting as opposed to all of your weight being in the SD if you only have a single bridge?
I'm thinking it might be nice to try to disperse the weight out between the two sections, but you won't be able to do that with only a single bridge through the SD.

Yes. The sit drag is lower down on my butt and I'm sitting on it. The battle belt can be adjusted up or down and in or out as needed for comfort. I'm finding I don't really adjust my sit drag bridge at all but I'm going to leave it alone until I have an all day sit in it. My battle belt bridge doubles as my tether and I find myself adjusting that more often as needed for comfort.

Alright fellas, I may be buying the battle belt and linemans loop combo. Im size 34 waist, would yall recommend the Medium or Large?
@ImThere @Jtaylor @ericabbott
Yeah medium. I was messing around on the tree today and used some of those heavy sliders DanO sells to go through both the Sitdrag and linesman loops with tubular webbing for my bridge. It works out great.
