"FASTENING" your ring of steps

I would think plenty strong enough but might be hard to torque because it is kinda short.?
Yep, I'd recommend a minimum of 6" rod or bolt because you not only want to torque it tight but the longer the rod, the less force to secure it with.

Having not tried this method yet (but will in a few days). I'm considering locking down the twist tool with just a heavy nite ize gear tie. I usually carry one with me anyways. I would think that It would hold it with no problem without introducing any metal to the system. Thoughts?
I hope I didn't steal the joy of your testing....but yr idea was good and I had to try it out! At a very tight pull, this stuff held it easily! Great idea!20220416_215149.jpg

No joy stolen. Saved me some time. I just wanted something light weight, compact and something I'm already carrying. I normally carry an extra gear tie, biner, prussik and an amsteel DC.
Thanks for your video and idea

i might be the only person who dont care if his steps are supper tight to the tree or move a little im compforitable with it.i just use a cam.is there an advantage im missing? if so id like to learn it.or is it just preffernce?

i saw someone put a short loop or peice with loops of strap through the step and atatched the amsteel to it .dont remember who. or how it was attached though.but basicly the amsteel had a small loop of webbing on it for the step

i love my dudes work.now im woundering if we could use a step as the bolt and use a loop to hold it in the down position .we are so good at hijacking threads.but this one is going somewhere.watch what he comes up with next

Alright this is awesome!!

I need to play around with a different size/material for the rope portion but this is really crazy tight and completely silent with no effort to cam over etc. I used a carriage bolt and a big enough steel spacer to leave room to slide on the bolt with stealth stripping.

Did you just grind a notch in the spacer for the amsteel to cinch around? It's hard for me to tell with the stealth strip.

Edit: I think I see now, you just added an extra layer on the stealth strip on the ends of the spacer.

Exactly..this is kind of the first iteration of it so I’m just seeing what works but honestly the tape is holding the amsteel in fine.
I don’t want to use this amsteel - I bet those flat mini webbing straps that come with OOAL sticks would work great for this with the style steps I have.
