This has probably been discussed before but I didnt want to search. :p What's your favorite strang material and how many strands are you building with?

Lordy. It’s been so long since I’ve made a string. I can’t remember what I used. I still have several spools. I’ll see what it is when I get home.

I think all the cool kids are using fast flight/d97 or a variant of dyneema. I still have enough b55 for a lifetime probably so that's what I'm using. I've made them 10, 12 and 14 strand based on nock fit with the serving thread I have (also have enough to probably last a lifetime).

I use B50; B55, I have an old role of B500 too. I use it for tying nocks. I also have Trophy, TS1 Plus, and Fast Flight.

My favorite string is a blend of Trophy and B55. My favorite material is TS1 Plus.

I have B50 for a making strings for a couple of old bows but TS1 Plus is what I have been using on my hunting bows for a long time. Really have no good reason to change just thought I might try something different. My Stalker came with a mercury string and it performed well but was a little skinny for my taste.

I used Mercury or Mercury 2 on the last ones I built. I’d have to go find my spools to be sure. I bought one online before that that was X99 and have no complaints with either.

Bought one recently that was x99 and it's fast. All my others have been D97 16 strand, for the last few years.

Mercury2 is phenomenal and 8125 is excellent as well and x99 is awesome just a thinner version of BCY X material and one of my all time favorites is a 6/9 strand 450+ which a all around tough and quiet string
All make great strings I made thousands of strings with D97 for many years but I always felt it stretched just to much for my taste so I switched and I have made strings from S4 to TS1 and everything in between and settled my top 3 string materials up top

What strand count are you normally using for Mercury 2 for a 50# bow?

I would use 12 strand for 40 to 80#. You can go 8 strand but you would need to pad the loops and build up a center serving
