Figured out something about scent control down south.

There’s a definite correlation to what your milkweed is doing on these high pressure days and the folks that preach higher deer movement on high pressure days....deer that pick up your scent before you see them remain unseen.

As for the cold weather and movement, my experiences are just the opposite here (SC). When the temps get brutally low here (I consider anything below 20° to be brutally cold, ymmv) I seem to see more deer up feeding. Fortunately that doesn’t happen here very often during the season. 25 years or so ago I hunted 3 days in a row here when the temps were 16°, 10° then 8° when I got out of the truck. The first two days I saw multiple deer and the last day I saw deer all day long, they were coming by in waves, lol.

I think you guys are right on. I'm from south central Alabama and the first month of the bow season is like that. Guess I'm gonna have to try and wait on the cooler weather with a rising barometric pressure to hunt my best spots. I wait all year for hunting season as it is my passion though and will still have to get out and hunt from afar or lower level stands

There will always be thermals. A very basic overview is that air will always move up when heated and down when cooled. And since no land can warm/cool at the exact same rate there will always be thermals at sunrise and sunset. Now a ton of other factors come into play - shade, foliage, terrain, water, wind speeds, etc. But I think you (original OP) are on the right track -you are paying attention to the subtle things. But I assure you, there are spots you can exploit even on the days where it seemed the pressure may be pulling your scent to the ground.
