First off, let me say thank you to all of the saddle hunter staff and members that make a platform like this available. It truly is a blessing to be able to have such a library of helpful tips and information on saddle hunting and hunting in general... not to mention the memories and camaraderie that I can tell gets created through this Avenue.
I have been hunting now for about 4 years. So I am new to big game hunting. I have become predominantly a bow hunter. Do some early and late season muzzle loader hunting. Over the past 4 season I’ve hunted, I have harvested nothing but does. This is not a problem for me, because I truly enjoy just getting out in the field and seeing what comes through. Plus my family and I absolutely love the deer meat. Processing it in my kitchen even has a “ therapudic“ effect for me. (Hope that makes sense). I just really enjoy all aspects of a hunt from scouting, set up, to the dinner table.
I’ve had several chances pull in some antlers, but all of my prior opportunities were chalked up to “education“ and experience gained in the field through beginner mistakes.
All of it has paid of this year in being able to harvest my first Buck this season! Oct. 26, @ 5:00p.m. I had one come in under my stand and catch me by surprise. I wanted to post it here cause it really felt good and I want to get involved in the community. This year I have started putting me together a saddle hunting set up. Did not get it together and practice with it in time for the season. So this is not a saddle hunt kill, but I am on my way to becoming a saddle hunter for sure. This I can tell is going to become the predominate why I will hunt. So, I have found a home to develop my knowledge and skills and wanted to say thank you by sharing with you my first Buck!
