First Lite Flash sale

I have the full set. Extremely quiet. Even in cold weather. Very comparable to fleece as far as noise.

I love how lightweight they are. The bibs are great at dumping heat if you need to. Not totally wind or waterproof but they are an awesome set of cold weather gear. Well worth the discounted price.
I currently run a Kings Camo kit with 2 medium heavy merino layers for late season in MN but it gets a little crunchy/noisy in the single digit temps. What do you run for base layers on a low single digit day when the wind is blowing in MN?

Does anyone have any experience with the sanctuary kit? Is it noisy like the the Uncompahgre jacket?

I ordered the Santuary Bibs in ASAT during March, 2018. They were well constructed and like others have remarked, very warm; however, I returned them because I found the reinforced seat was too noisy for me. I did give First Lite that feedback and the refund was fast. I'm not sure if the newer model has been changed or if its the same seat material. I have other First Lite gear and think they are a top notch company.

Ironically, I run the Sitka Incinerator Bibs that others say are noisy, and personally find them quiet. I do wish the zipper was covered, as that is a possible contact area for noise particularly when bow hunting. My bibs are the older Forest version.

Along these lines, I got a great deal on a Scentlok Windbrace jacket and find it noisy. I'm not sure I'll wear it, currently it's a scent absorber for my other gear when stowed. Others here have commended the jacket and commented that it is a quiet garment.

I share all of this so you have an understanding that my perspective is apparently vastly different than some others, but, there it is.

Right now I wear:

Bottom:
Base = FL Furnace
Mid = FL Catalyst
Outer = FL Sanctuary

Top:
Base = under armour 4.0
Mid = FL - Kiln hoody
Outer = FL Sanctuary

When it's blowing and single digits I have to add a few hand warmers. I will be getting the brooks down sweater or similar to add one more layer. Bottoms never get cold but my top got a little chilly when there was a 12 MPH sustained wind or more and single digits.

Ive heard good things about first light base layers, any feed back from you guys?

Dont expect durability from the merino tops and the obsidian pants. I cant recommend hiking in them if you live in thick areas of briar and under/mid story brush.

I would agree with this.They will get beat up if you are going through thicker areas if it is an outer layer.

Dang nabit you boys "made"me spend nearly 500 bucks on a jacket and bibs. I'm not mad but my wife is!! JK I shipped it to work so all is good

I love my Sanctuary set. It's my heater body bag for the saddle.

Yea, the Sanctuary set is for real. Hunted last year in -9 temp and being 100 percent honest, I was never cold. Also had furnace base layers on, and catalyst system over that, but being able to enjoy snowy hunts in -9 in December is totally worth the $500 IMO.

Last year we had a winter storm come through started with freezing rain then settled in the low 20s / high teens. I put a light rain layer over the sanctuary, and especially with that added layer, I was kinda chuckling to myself in the tree I was so comfortable, felt totally invincible. So wasn’t -9, that’s impressive, but another success story.

It’s really pretty comical...I’d take my hands out of the pockets and they would immediately lose all functioning abilities...but back in they went and I was all good. Full disclaimer the temp was actually 8 but windchill was -9...so in deer hunter language, it was like -47.

Appreciate your honesty and full disclaimer here yes my hands also were numb by the time I climbed down the snowy tree in the dark. Everything else all good tho.

FL has some great stuff, but not the biggest fan of either the Solitude or Sanctuary. The Sanctuary is a warm set, but I liked the Sitka Fanatic much more. The huge chest pocket, diagonal zipper, amazing built-in handmuff all pull it far ahead the sanctuary for me. The Sanctuary doesn't technically have windstopper, but it is windproof because of the glue that bonds the 2 layers of insulation together. I sold my Solitude within the first two weeks of having it. It's an awesome, extremely quiet piece. The muff built in under the jacket is genius. The tailored fit and tighter arms for string clearance is great too. But it has zero wind stopping ability, and for that it's an utterly useless piece. I remember the day I decided to sell it. It was mid to high 40s, so it wasn't that cold out. But the wind was whipping and I froze on stand
