First Lite KitLink with the Saddle?

Hi All,

Just got a First Lite Sanctuary set. Nice and toasty. But I can't figure out how to take advantage of the kitlink feature with the saddle. Kitlink is where the jacket has slits that open up, so you can put your hands into the built in muff in the bibs. Super comfy and warm standing up or on a regular stand, but I can't figure out how to access the openings in the jacket when I put it on over the saddle. The bridge gums up access. The regular pockets are ok, but I love the idea of digging into that bib when it is really cold. I'm a wimp when it comes to cold, especially my hands.

Have any of you figured out a way to make this happen?

Thanks!

I only have the sanctuary bibs, but I'm planning on getting the sanctuary jacket for next year. Is the jacket too bulky to tuck under your bridge?

I can tuck it under the bridge, but something about the location of the firstlink opening, which is a little behind and above the pockets, means I can't get my hands in. Having used it once, the jacket is awesome though. If anyone has tips, I want to learn how to use that feature.

Do you run a carabiner on your bridge?... only way I can think to do this... but I got my sanctuary jacket this year as well and I agree... it's AWESOME...wish I held out on the sanctuary bibs until the 2.0s came out

I used to. That's actually an interesting idea. I could throw my lineman's around the tree, and thread the bridge through the opening. A bit of a pia compared to just reaching through. but possible. I hope there is a better way.

So I wrote to firstlite. Here is what they said:

“Thank you for reaching out! This is an issue many saddle hunters describe to us from time to time, though this primarily stems from your bridge being set too high! When your saddle is set up properly, you should be able to access the kit link zip openings at the side of your Sanctuary Jacket so long as you are in the correct size!”

I’m curious if anyone knows what they mean by the bridge being too high.

I feel like this is them telling you that you won’t be able to use it if you are sitting or if your tether is high on the tree. Gonna have to stand/lean with a low tether. Kind of a BS excuse rather than just saying, “it won’t work if you are a sitter”.

I don't think the intent of the design is to allow for a bridge to go through... I'm not sure if there's a high percentage of people who run a detachable bridge which would be required to do this. I think a better response would be to have said that the kitlink is intended to be a passthrough to put your hands into either the sanctuary bibs or into a muff that you have under your jacket. I have the jacket and love it, but the kitlink slots are WAY too high to consider passing my bridge through. Perfect for my hands though. I actually don't use them if in the saddle though.. I typically just put my hand in a muff and keep the kitlink slots closed.
