Set up a little late getting to the spot I wanted to hunt so I ended up going to a spot I had a preset platform. It’s a hardwood creek bottom bordered by thinned pines on one side and a clearcut on the other. Around 5:00 I had a coyote come in behind me so I figured my hunt was over. Start slowly packing my stuff and as soon as I finish that I hear a deer coming from the clearcut. At this point it is 5:30 and shooting time ends at 5:35. The deer works his way to 20 yards and I can make out a set of antlers on it. After having multiple encounters this season with deer I couldn’t get a shot on I decided I was going to shoot. Line up the shot, heard a pop and he ran off. After waiting and going back to the truck for a light I found no blood or arrow where he was standing. Decided to call in blood dogs, they ended up finding him 125 yards away with a minimal blood trail. Ended up being a pretty little 8 point. My first deer from a saddle as well as my first bow buck. I’ve killed bigger with a rifle but I actually enjoyed this one more than any of them
