Surprisingly got a phone call from someone at tactacam Sunday afternoon. He talked me through a few things. He said it sounded like it had locked and I would need to send it back and get it unlocked and they would send it back to me. Not sure what that was about or why it would lock for no reason. I mentioned I was going to go ahead and swap batteries and sim as that seemed to fix about half the trail cam problems I have ever encountered. He said that was fine and the number he called from was his cell number. Then said to call him and let him know what happened after the battery swap. I didn’t get around to that u til tonight. Good news is it powered up. It took a crappy pic inside. Tried again outside.
It’s full of moisture. When I opened the camera back up there were a couple drops of water in the battery case that obviously wasn’t there when I replaced the batteries minutes earlier. The downside is that it’s very well possible it was my fault. The seal is basically just printed on and sticky. So when I opened the camera Saturday there was noticeable minuscule pieces of pine bark in several places on the seal. Can’t say that it was there all along or built up on top of the camera and fell onto the seal when opening. I guess I’ll have to carry a paintbrush to sweep the debris off the seal when checking the camera. Not going to call the guy this late tonight but will call him tomorrow and post an update. I was really surprised to get a phone call from someone who speaks English, and acts like they care. All that on a Sunday afternoon. So from what I’ve seen with customer service so far is good. Of course I’ll take crappy customer service that I never need but that doesn’t seem to be the norm so far with cellular trail cameras.
