Thinking of using oplux 8mm to make a fixed length bridge on my soon to arrive new saddle. See any issues or concerns with using a scaffold knot to tie in both sides on the bridge loops? Thinking of this knot to eliminate the need for another caribiner and also its ability to cinch down tight.

There's better options than a scaffold knot to tie your bridge to your saddle. The problem with a scaffold is that it will cinch tighter once you use it. On the one end of my bridge I used a figure 8 on a bight with a stopper back up, but I have a prusik for an adjustable bridge on the other end

The figure 8 allows the rope to move up and down on the bridge loops for adjustments

I use oplux for a fixed bridge and my knot is the yosemite bowline in each end, works for me

Why not splice it? It's easy and way stronger.

Samson would never suggest using a Yosemite bowline on oplux for critical loads.

Edit: Jesus why do I always see amsteel when I read oplux!? Disregard this post.

The scaffold knot should not be used to attach rope to another rope or strap as it can self invert and become insecure. If your bridge loops are metal then the scaffold should be ok. Otherwise, choose a different knot such as a figure 8 follow through.

I have a mental block where I see "oplux" and think "amsteel" disregard my earlier post about the Yosemite bowline in oplux.

I suggest a girth hitched overhand-on-a-bight knot tied via the follow thru method. Step by step photos can be found starting here:

Lock the the knot down as tight as you can and leave plenty of tail.

The girth hitch allows you to move your bridge higher or lower on your bridge loops to change "the angle of the dangle".

I’ve thought about going back to a fixed bridge. Mine is adjustable now but I never adjust/move it.
