I did not know if anyone has found an effective way to fix backpack zippers, but if you have I would love to know how.

I got a TideWe backpack in October and two of the zippers broke, but I absolutely love the pack and would rather keep it than discard it because of some zipper issues.

This might work for you.

I use those to put double direction zippers on my midwayusa bibs that are affordable and only have a single zipper in the front.

If the slider is the problem and the teeth are in place, then you just get the slider off there and then install the fixnzip.

For my purposes with the bibs, I zip it up to get the factory slider I'll preserve up top, then remove the bottom clamp that holds the zipper together and stops the slider, I then pull the zipper apart a few inches, unscrew the fixnzip which opens slightly like a spring loaded clam shell, put on the zipper teeth, screw down fixnzip, and then use upholstery thread to make several loops around the bottom of the zipper to replace the little metal clamp that I removed with hemostats and discarded.

If it is the entire zipper destroyed with teeth messed up, then you can buy complete zippers and sew them in, if you have that equipment and skills. If not, I'd look for a tailor/seamstress that has a good reputation.

Thank you very much, this is very helpful.

Glad to help.

I use the medium sized zipper on bibs. It is roughly the standard size used on jackets and bibs. Looking at a random jansport laptop backpack just now, it would also be a medium.

That is what I was thinking it would be, but will have to check it out once I get home and then order some. But, watching the videos, it makes it look like you can just put them right on. Really cool product.

What a bummer! I too just got the TideWe after a zipper broke on my old pack. I am a little more conscious when zipping things closed and try to relieve some tension as I zip up…..both for noise and for damage prevention. BTW- love the pack!

The TideWe backpack is excellent and I love it. That is why I wanted to find replacement zippers because I did not want to get another bag. So, I believe you will be happy with your decision as well. Just be careful when using the side pouch zippers because I found they can easily be contorted and that is how mine broke. Essentially, do not try to unzip things from weird angles and putting too much force on them.
