I have recently decided to try a fleece saddle as a cheap alternative to buying a saddle. Already have a rock climbing harness and Amsteel. I picked up some camo fleece from Walmart, but I cannot find the dimensions to cut the fabric down to. I have read about “the original thread” where a guy named Sam and another guy worked it all out, but I can’t find it for the life of me. I might just start trying things out, but I’d hate to waste time reinventing the wheel.

I thought it was just me. I can't find it either. Will definitely be following this.

it’s somewhere In here. I would suggest wrapping the fleece around your ass and cutting it a foot past your hip bones on each side. That should leave enough space to fold over and tie to. You want to error on the long side. I make mine extra wide and tall and move the fleece around until I’m comfortable. You can always trim it shorter later.

image.jpegI purchased a cheap thin fleece blanket from academy sports. The dimensions where 50" x 60". I cut the blanket in half, 50" x 30". I folded this in half with the stretch of the fleece running front to back. I then folded the blanket like an accordion. I used 8 mm climbing rope as the bridge. I used a double sheets bend to tie the ends. This size worked for me.

I think my saddle with dimensions is on page 15.
