Food in the stand

I love my fruit cups. Incredibly refreshing after a long period in the woods. Juice and all. I barely finished it this year by the time my buck came stomping through so must not bother them too much. And my wife keeps them stocked up for the kids so I can always find one in a pinch. I’ll bring a lunch meat sandwich for an all day sit though. Of course these things are in a small collapsible cooler pouch. The ensure is a good idea. I like the muscle milk shakes also. I get scatter brained when I’m hungry. I know as a pharmacist I don’t feel comfortable checking scripts when I’m overdue for a meal. My mind thinks more about food so I take a break and refuel to rid the distraction. To me that would apply to staying focused hunting as well. Anyway just my 2c.

If it’s scent you’re worried about, bring snacks that smell good to all species:
Peanut butter
Chocolate
Fruit
Vanilla
Honey
Neutral-smell crackers/bread
Cheese
Nuts

A lot of that stuff smells like what they eat or live near anyway. If anything, there’s an odor-lure advantage to be had here...

I used to carry a lunch for all day sits on opening day of rifle season but I never had anything left for the sit on the second day (remote from home and nothing to pack) and I get through just fine without it. Once I finally figured that out (I'm embarrassed to think about how long it took me) I quit packing a meal for opening day too. I'm fine for 12 hours without eating and its just less crap to carry along. I still bring a thermos of coffeee and some water but no need for lunch.

Eat a lot of apples sitting up there in the saddle. No joke. It actually can help draw deer to ya. When im done. I try to throw it as hard as I can at a nearby tree to bust to core and spread the smell

I got to the point last year where I ate breakfast before I left in the morning, skipped lunch, and ate a big dinner in the evening. Less to carry, and no way to make noise or odor.

If I did carry something, I pulled a leaf from John's book and carried a thing of ensure.

Give those a try, they’re excellent.

An apple and Nekot crackers and just like clock work when I start crunching the apple, if I see a deer that will be the time. A little reminder always remove all crackers from wrapper and put in sandwich bag, When I wear hearing aids, opening the crackers from pack sounds like a chainsaw running.

I've had them. To me all whey shakes are about the same taste-wise. The thing about ensure is that they're packing a stupid amount of calories in that small bottle. The new ones have 350 calories in a 4oz bottle. That's the reason I carry them.
I figured you be carrying one of these with you. There seems to be a beer bottle in all of your videos lately.

Well I just turned 50...however I'm diabetic and if I don't eat then someone will find me hanging from the tree as I either ate my arm or went into a blood sugar coma. While I'm joking about the last part, I honestly cannot go longer than 3-5 hours without having protein or carbs...fasting is a no-go for me cause if I don't eat and come home I'm a bear to my family and they want to take me to the back lot and put me out of their misery.

What I bring is cliff bars or some type...Gorp or some other energy snacks that is high in carbs.

lot of deer jerky, fruit jerky, trailmix. That kind of stuff if it's a sneaky kind of day. If its just observation kind of sit I might have a meatball sub in my pack.

Wait, I thought you took a couple hour lunch in your vblog the other day. :)

I been doing almost keto for about a year and a half,I do a premier shake in am... chocolate and at 1030 eat a cheese stick and a slim jim and I'm good till 12 with water. It works for me.Last season I was 244 and today I'm 159 and I know 1 thing it's a lots easyer to get 159 in a tree than 244

Lol keto here and last year 305 and this year 245 and man that seems way easier to get in a tree I can’t fathom 159..

Good job man...
