Hey everyone,

I started a page entitled: Gutshot Fitness and a program called: "Lose Your Gut for the Rut".

I am going to be putting up free workouts every weekday in February focusing specifically on fitness for the mobile hunter. Nothing fancy, no specific equipment or special machines required. Just you, something "kind of heavy" and your bow.

These workouts are designed primarily for those looking to get back in shape and enjoy the great outdoors with more energy, stamina and skill than they had before. They can be made more challenging, or scaled at your own pace and discretion.

There is no cost. But, if the program does help you and you can send me before/after pictures and a testimonial that would be greatly appreciated!

Here are the social links:

Whatever you do for fitness, go for it, have some fun and take one step forward every day!

For those interested, I've been the owner of CrossFit Elgin for the past 8 1/2 years and have been doing fitness training for the past 12. We've helped dozens of people loose 50+ pounds and several over 100.

There is no secret, no magic sauce, it just takes showing up every day and doing your best to take 1 step forward.

If we can keep our focus on what matters "more" (I want to be able to take my grandson/daughter saddle hunting someday) than on what seems to matter "now" (I want 8 more chicken wings to go with my next beer) it is amazing what we can accomplish.

If you need any modifications for injuries, etc just message me and I'll do my best to help you out.

I'm going to give it a try Steve. I've been running since the offseason started for me about 3 times a week following couch 2 5k, but this will definitely be a good addition. Hopefully having a program to follow will help with accountability. I've gone through substantial weight loss before (80 lb), but gained about half of it back when my wife and I had kids and got less active. Looking forward to turning it back around!

Thanks a lot for sharing something like this. It's a great idea.

Right on! You got this!

Pretty generous offer i'll check out some workouts.
Hope your business is doing well after Covid/ Crossfit changes .

I got the chance to do my first workout today. I was down and out from my Covid vaccine for a couple days this week so I’m only just getting started. I ended up buying some cheap sandbags online to train with and I found a bag of sand in my shed. In my situation I’m trying to jog out the 10-15 yards or so and I’m using the same two arrows, so I’m going to increase the rest time between exercises so I can get that done. I wore my bino harness and the same Eddie Bauer pants that I hunt with to try to give it greater realism and to test the range of that gear (just for fun and because I have nothing better to do). It was awesome and great fun! The workout was challenging, but in a good way. I’ve never been one to train other than running so my bag is only 17 lb, but I could definitely feel it.

Thanks again for offering this up. Even if you only post a few workouts, I will definitely be trying to work these into my routine.
