I would appreciate product recommendations for a friction hitch on resc tech rope (8mm). Specifically what product and where to purchase. Thank you.
Check eastern woods outdoors for 6mm Sterling trc, or 5.5 Beal Jammie… Another great place is Bluewater ropes. They sell 6mm prusiks and 5.5 mm titan cord. Any of these options would be great to use on 8mm rope.I would appreciate product recommendations for a friction hitch on resc tech rope (8mm). Specifically what product and where to purchase. So ideally you’ll be looking for a 6mm eye to eye of more than 20” finished length. If you are going to tie your eyes instead of buying sewn eyes, I would recommend the 5.5 Beal Cord as it has the highest single eye break strength. But if you can find 6mm TRC sewn eye to eye that would definitely work. It’ll be my primary on my tether. I’ll also use it as backup when I rappel using an atc.
I have Resc Tech 8mm mainline and use 6mm TRC for the Schwabisch. Tied eyes with a scaffold knot, but sewn eyes would be sweet. You can get the eye to eye TRC cord from Cruzr. 20" long works great on Oplux with a Schwabisch, I can't say for Resc tech.
My first vid is just released and my preference for a friction hitch which supports your full body weight. When I'm dealing with only half of my weight online, I simply use the Michoacan, 2nd vid. On 8mm rope, you would normally use 6 mm cord, but my favorite combination is Sterling standard 7 mm accessory cord, and they form the Michoacán with 6 turns instead of 5.I would appreciate product recommendations for a friction hitch on resc tech rope (8mm). He is using 8mm rope as his main line. I don’t think 8mm bee line would be the best cord to use in conjunction with 8mm rescue tech, however if he were using 11mm ropes or tethers, bee line is a great choice.8 MM Beeline is hard to beat IME. It is tacky. You can get it either in spliced eyes or tie your own. Very durable and forgiving if you give a little too hard a squeeze on descent. Michocan or distel are solid choices. If you are up for practicing it until you can tie it bilndfolded a VT ( Valdotain Tresse) or XT ( Mark Chisolms variation on the VT) is a much easier hitch to manipulate and control plus it slides WAY WAY WAY easier on ascent than any other hitch you tie. Gap Arborist Supply or TreeStuff.Com are good places to buy. You will need to have an idea on cord length before you buy which is very user dependent.
Thanks for the correction. I read his ? a couple times and still thought he was running 8 as his main line. Disregard my advice unless your bumping up in size!He is using 8mm rope as his main line.
