First I have no problems with anybody that works at the post office, my local postal workers are some nice hard working people and these are difficult times..... That said, things are a complete mess there at the moment and my advice to anyone selling and shipping items is to avoid them at all cost for now, I bought something from a friend on June 29 th, the tracking worked for 3 days, then poof it was gone, just reads in transit, arriving late, nobody has a clue where it is, filed a claim, yea right, waste of time, been down to my local post office a dozen times and they have no idea either, call the 1-800 number and after waiting an hour for a call back, and pray the person speaks English... I get nothing, they have no idea either, basically I am screwed. So what’s next you wonder in case your ever in this situation... Just wait it gets better, when mail or packages go “missing” they are supposed to be shipped to a warehouse in GA, the lost package recovery building, this facility has no phone number and does not except emails, you must hand write a letter to them describing your situation, then they rip through packages and attempt to match up your package, in this scenario you have a 3% chance of getting your package back, yea right, heres the best part, the 97% percent left get auctioned off and proceeds returned to the said USPS that lost the package in the first place. Currently right now out of 6 packages coming to my home through the USPS 3 are several days late and one completely gone. Once again I have no ill feelings towards postal workers, they have a hard job right now and I respect that, I am only writing this to possibly save a fellow hunter the aggravation I have been through the last few weeks, maybe this a regional problem (upstate NY), I have no idea. If by chance there is a saddlehunter out there working at the NW Rochester distribution Facility a PM would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

A year ago a member on here shipped me their sticks and platform for me to modify and paint. I did the job and mailed them back. They never got back to him. I shipped them USPS as well. There were records of it leaving my town and after that nothing. After months of inquiring with them we gave up. Crazy how things just disappear

This was a tree stand, and basically the exact same thing happened.

This happened to me with an item that I picked up from the classifieds. According to tracking, it went back and forth from NC to D.C. twice in a two week span then it just disappeared. Said it was in transit and arriving late. After not receiving any updates for a couple days, I called USPS and they had no clue where it was or why it was taking so long. Nearly a month after the item had shipped it showed up on my doorstep with no notifications at all, so maybe there is still a chance you'll get your stuff. Hope everything works out!

Man I hope your right, sounds exactly like what I have going on, when was this if you don’t mind me asking recently?

It was around the middle of May I believe. I had pretty much chalked it up as a loss since the whole world decided to go to pot around that time. It did show up beat all to hell. Big rips all in the box... lucky the stuff didn’t fall out. I was just happy it showed up though.

Thank you, that gives me hope, mine was shipped june 29th, sounds exactly like your scenario

I hope it works out for you, I'm still waiting on that package from last year that @Murph4028 sent out. Post office said it could randomly show up one day. Last time I checked the tracking acouple months ago t went from put on truck in Fayetteville North Carolina arriving late to label created status.

I thought all tracking numbers were scrapped in 90 days? The thing that ticks me off the most is there is NO way they could lose a box this big, buried in a warehouse thats understaffed I understand, to just lose it, I can’t believe.

Not to kick a man when he’s down, but......where exactly is this discount hunting gear place owned by the USPS located???

Atlanta Georgia, I think they dump everbody’s stuff in big tubs and auction it off, you buy a huge mess and have no idea whats in it I believe, they probably will put my tree stand on top so the tub brings more.

I'm not sure, I just kept going in and filing a missing mail complaint. This was pre covid craziness and since that kicked off I've been trying to use UPS whenever possible. I dread when ordering something nowadays and it gets shipped USPS. The last thing I mailed to @Murph4028 last month I requested signature and insured it just to make sure it arrived even though it was just fabric I paid $5 for.

It’s actually crazy that you say that because after my package went from NC to DC twice, it went down to Atlanta and then back up to me in VA. I think they may have just been busted lol

Thats exactly what happened, I have researched this to death. You were part of the 3% LOL

Ive had so many problems getting stuff shipped to me from EWO, 2x now ive had claims filed on my stuff, this last time it took near a month to ship to MN from MI.

I made daily stops in my local post office and to the 800 number, as well as messaging then on the usps Facebook page, the only person that really was interested in actually helping me from the PO was my local postmaster. I kept bugging them until something happened. About 10 days after the claim was filed it mysteriously started moving again.

The Detroit distribution center is garbage

Edit: it has nothing to do with EWO, they are awesome. Its all been the fault of the USPS

Since this is the vendor access area, I hope its ok to throw this out there. I've been having horrible service from the USPS due to the pandemic right now and I'm researching other options. Its not my local PO, they are great, it is the Detroit distribution center. I'm starting to ship my larger packages via UPS, but the sub 2 pound packages are going to be so much more expensive to ship. I may include an option for shipping smaller packages via UPS but its going to be a flat rate of $8.99 or so compared to USPS rates of $3.49-$6.99. Is is worth it? Would you all pay more for better delivery options?

yes, i would. the small difference in price would be worth the peace of mind of knowing i would actually receive my packages in a reasonable time frame
