Garmin Instinct Solar Thread

Been using the 2x for about 9 months now and love it. I didn't think the flashlight would be so useful, but I literally use it every day. I track my hiking and sports religiously and the 2x battery life is insane!
 
Do they have a “ Garmin watches for Dummies” book out?? I’m not simple minded but am having a heckuva time figuring all this out. Love the watch though.

I'd try YouTube. When I got my instinct I found a really detailed YouTube video that went through everything the watch would and wouldn't do. There's probably one for the new version.

That’s why I got the one with buttons. Buttons are for dummies haha.

If you have any specific questions on how to use it or access stuff on it feel free to ask and I’ll do my best to answer.
 
@Black Titan I’m bumping this since it seems a lot more guys have garmins than before. Maybe people can share what “Home Screen” set up they are using. They have some custom screens you can download now but I haven’t messed with them yet. My wife has and she has about 30 different data cells on the smaller Garmin instinct lol.

I set a sunrise alert 30 mins before so I know when it’s first light/shooting light. Bottom right button hold (alarms, timer, stop watch etc.)

My eyes cant handle that Home Screen. The perfect vision I’ve had my whole life started not being so perfect about a year ago. This is my screen now.

This is my home screen, but it's not the 2X, just the Instinct 2 Solar. It's just one of the standard configurations, I haven't really downloaded anything onto is. Owned this for over 1.5 years, and it's almost 24/7 wear...

Mine is almost 2yr old as well. I flinched at the price at first. But almost feel naked now with out it.
 
Been looking hard at the Instict 2 solar just because the instict 3 is a little outside what I want to pay right now.

With that said, what’s the thought on buying used watches if they are in very good condition and what are reasonable prices?

The first instinct I bought was used off of eBay for $50. My son is still wearing that watch today. Buying used is always taking a little bit of a chance and there's obviously no factory warranty but, you can save a ton of money. You've just got to be comfortable with the tradeoff.

Biggest risk i see would be battery. If it’s already shot you’ll be charging it endlessly. I don’t think Garmin replaces batteries (at least when I checked). Outside of that, both my wife and I have beat them pretty good for many years now without any issues. We have since upgraded to gen 2s. Her battery was getting terrible on her vivo but my instinct still had plenty of life in it.
 
I've been looking at the Instinct 3, do you guys think I would be better suited looking for a used instinct 2? Are the upgrades worth the price difference?

I can’t recommend the 2X solar enough. I don’t know that I would pick up one used (I’m weird about used electronics) but I’ve seen fair deals on new 2 and 2Xs ($200-250) that I would choose over the 3 (if price was a significant factor). The added light is so convenient/useful. Overall it has nice upgrades to the user interface from the original.

It appears the light comes standard with the 45mm now on the instinct 3. Below is a very comprehensive video on the subtleties between the two.
