Garmin Watch Discount

Just came here to post that myself. There are some amazing deals on what I have heard are pretty good watches. I ordered the Vivoactive this morning.

I’ll give a nod to an instinct solar at below $250 that’s a good deal if someone wants a good smart watch that’s pretty rugged. I’m only using about a 1/3 of what it does…..EC3E578D-578F-4FE9-901E-820E2A223E66.jpeg

Anyone have any feedback, good or bad?
Garmin Instinct Tactical

Dang, it is not Solar. Solar on these watches work well or more of a gimmick?

I went back and forth on the Vivoactive 4, the Instinct and the Instinct Solar. Ultimately chose the better display over the ruggedness, still not sure if I made the right decision.

Why are you yelling?!

Real talk, the solar will add maybe 10-20% battery life if I remember correctly. That may mean nothing to you, or it might save your life. It depends on how you use the watch.

On my Instinct, I get 2-3 weeks without a charge under everyday circumstances where I don't really engage with the watch - it's just tracking passively. When I'm hiking/hunting, I'm marking waypoints, checking altitude, distances, etc., and engaging with the watch. In cold weather, that drops to 8-15 days depending. I typically don't spend more than 3-5 days without power. The solar wouldn't be a worthwhile upgrade for me. But for anyone who goes 7 days, I think it's worth the premium.

I have a family friend that works at Garmin that can get pretty good deals a few times a year and I just told him that this is the watch I would like to get. Glad to hear you like it. I am hoping to be able to utilize the bread crumb features, tracback, sunrise/set, altimeter, barometer, temp etc. for hunting as well as its many other features to track fitness goals. I went with it over the vivo active because I dont forsee myself needing as much of the smart watch type features that come with the vivoactiv i.e. spotify

Vivoactive is a great watch as well. My wife has the 3 and my FIL has the 4. I don't think you'll be disappointed. It has more gadgets and widgets then you'll be able fully to utilize.

Yeah I like it! Solar is nice, if you are in GPS or altimeter function for a long period it will eat battery. I found that if a use it to track hikes/runs then I charge about every 10-14 days. If I’m doing none of that then 23-25 days longer with a lot of outdoor activities. I almost spent an extra $100 b/c I really like the miss green tactical but in the end I’m not doing any black ops or jumping from planes so this instinct solar fits the bill.

I'll get on the Garman Site later tonight to do some comparisons. Assume the Instinct and Instinct Solar have the same features, other than Solar panels in the watch? And also, can these watches be charged from battery with USB to micro cable? Ex. can you use a battery from say a heated vest to charge the watch like I currently do with my cell phone, or is the charge cable that comes with the watch not compatible?

Yea my FIL was giving my crap for picking the tacticool version in moss green. He asked if a joined a paramilitary group and if i had night vision goggles. I sent him a link to new alabama legislation permitting night hunting of hogs and coyotes and told him I just might haha

It comes with a USB charging cord. Their charging port is exclusive to the watch. Silly but what's new.

Yeah I charged mine from a battery’s pack turkey hunting this spring, same watch…..

Almost ready to pull the trigger on the Garman Instinct Solar. Must say though that I do like the Casio G Shock series that feature the very large but easy to view analog display for aging eyes (easily see with out glasses), but have not found anything in that line up that has the GPS features of the Garman, just checking if maybe I missed something, anyone own or have any experiences with the G shock's?

This is my tactix charlie...I absolutely love it. It has FULL gps on it, and it loads the same high detail maps as my garmin handheld. I currently have 3 different maps(full USA) loaded on it, and 2 of them layered constantly. The high-end top USA and a road maps version. It works extremely well. Oh yeah, everyone in a while I hit the location button while on the shower AND THE GPS WORKS!!! The signal on 5his is amazing.

There are about 100 different face options for mine, plus cutomizing what details are shown. This watch blows the casio away and I sure you can find a face you can read no problem...

If I wanted to spend more that’s definitely the one I’d be getting!

It is a sweet watch for sure. But from what I see on Amazon prices, could get a Instinct Solar and a Montana handheld for similar $.
Of course that watch has both in one.
