Gearhead Short Axle Bows

I handled the B24 today for the first time and I have to admit I'm pretty impressed with it. The balance in hand is very nice. From some guys I spoke with the 24 is a nicer shooting bow than the 18 or the 20. I'm really considering one of these. Unfortunately I didn't get to shoot it so that is my next step

I don't know if I'd shoot it...if you are like me then when I shoot something, I have a bad habit of bringing it home with me.

I will throw this out there. I am friends with about half of the owners. I know how passionate they are about these bows and their company.

I bought one last fall and got home to register it. It had the info card and there are my friends initials saying he built the bow. Pretty cool when I drink beer with the guy who made my bow.

So fast forward, I had a shop set it up and they did a horrible job with the tune and I struggled with the bow. I sent an email to the company asking if they will look it over because it's so out of whack from the "tune".

I dropped it off at my buddy's Saturday and he is taking it in and putting it back to factory specs for me.

I realise that I'm friends with them and most people aren't so it might not mean much, but I love living an hour away from the shop and never ever having to worry about customer service or if they will stand behind their work.

Great bows super light, no shot shock, and plenty of speed for hunting. They aren't the end all do all, but for saddle hunters they are close!

Mine is the T24.

I shot one at Lancaster Archery & it was smooth, my only concern was nock pinch. I have that issue w/ short ata bows & they are giants compared to these.....

My concern with a short bow and this is completely a preference thing is the distance of the peep sight from your eye since the angle of the string is steeper the peep is further away..... anyone that’s shot one have an issue with it.

I'm running a 5/16" G5 Meta Pro peep in mine. The only reason I need the 5/16" is because I'm using the Copper John TST sight which mounts back toward the shooter versus away. A 1/4" peep would work fine with a normal sight system. Yes the string angle is steep, but the G5 peep appears to sit perfectly vertical at full draw and it frames the TST sight housing very well.

I cant find anything on use with a quiver. Has anyone experienced using one in hunting conditions packing a quiver? Seams that my full length arrows would take a beating walking through all of the brush and such. My carbon defiant 34 does a nice job of concealing them now but the smaller bow is very appealing.

Just got mine today, little heavier than the t series but tons of adjustability... shout out to fultons archery in mayslick ky, if your in the area go check him outZrEyS7PI-362663545.jpg

Was the pack extra? The B-24's do not have the capability of buying online. Nearest bow shop is in quincy, Illinois about 2.5hours from me. I don't want to drive there...order one...drive back home and have to make that trip again a couple of weeks later.

You could probably call the shop, order and then make one trip when it comes in.

Yes the pack is extra, they have 3 different packs, one for the 18, one for the 20, and one for the 24.

Well Gearheads website has two dealers listed within an hour of me but called them both today and neither has the B series in stock. One is discontinuing stocking them after one year because they didn’t have get enough interest from customers in the T series and the other is on the fence about continuing this year with the B series. Both had a couple T20 and T24 series left in stock that I may go shoot just to get a feel for them and if I’ll like the shorter ATA. I have to imagine the B series would at least shoot marginally better than the T series especially with the heavier weight. Unfortunately the T series doesn’t adjust out to my 30” draw length like the B series will otherwise I’m sure I could swing a good deal on the ones they have left in stock.

I shot the t series also, I actually preferred the T series over the b. But I wanted some adjustability. I like that the t was lighter and In my opinion the draw cycle was alot smoother with the t series,

Which part of the adjustability do you plan to take advantage of in the B series? Brace height? It seems like unless you like to mess with your draw weight your draw length isn’t going to change so there wouldn’t be much else to adjust. They did say on a video I watched that the handle can be moved side to side for balancing. So handle positioning and brace height?

You can get the slider grip to adjust brace height on the t. But your draw length would remain the same so if you shortened the brace height you would not be able to adjust draw length to fit, I wanted to get the most out of the bow so I have my brace height at the shortest and extend the draw length to fit me at that brace height. I also felt the b is faster after shooting both, although neither were chronographed. If I didnt want the faster of the two and speed didnt matter to me I would have definitely gotten the t series

Thanks for the feedback, this is extremely helpful, now I just need to go shoot one!

I was 30 seconds from buying this bow when a person on AT took my offer of 600.00 on a 2018 Triax. It's 28" and...well...he made an offer I couldn't refuse. If I ever scrape up enough money later then maybe...gosh I hope I never get a chance to shoot it because I know I'll get infected by the wants. I know I have a heck of a bow now and one heck of a deal.

Well I went and shot the T20 and T24 at my local dealer over the weekend and even though the draw lengths they had available were too short I was thoroughly impressed. I plan on ordering a B20 with the flatback slider grip this week, can’t wait to get it and dial her in. So long to the largest piece of hunting gear that’s left (34” ATA Bear bow) in my gear system.
