Gen 3 One Sticks....

Oh well, in spite of my complete lack of trust in anything Tethrd makes, I took the plunge and ordered some of these. Kind of like the forbidden fruit, I just have to try them out. I am more than fully aware of what a potential cluster #### This may turn out to be. They should be here tomorrow.

You're not alone I broke down and bought one also to try one-sticking. I got to handle one at a show this spring and it's amazingly light, couldn't resist adding it to my gear stash.

I have nothing invested in Tethrd but am interested to see how this all unfolds. If it’s another recall I will be both shocked and not surprised at the same time. I want to see these sticks succeed I really do. Have no reason to own them but a one lb stick would be cool for the industry

All the saddle bros across the nation feel the pull of a one pound stick. But I will at a minimum wait all this season and maybe longer to see what happens to the test dummies.

@John 35 - I said the same thing about the Gen2, and I'm glad I waited to see what unfolded first. I had just received my Gen1's last year when all the reports of glue disbond started emerging online. I hadn't even unboxed the sticks yet - and I sent them back unopened at a ridiculously expensive shipping cost, which I knew would not be refunded. When the Gen2's came out I posted the same sentiment ... no way I would buy until after they'd been used for a full season uneventfully by early adopters. We all know how that turned out.

Now the siren song of Gen3 has everyone enraptured and ready to throw buyer caution to the wind again. I'd love to see it succeed and be everything folks want it to be, I really would! I like the innovative designs from Tethrd, but I will once again withhold my dollars to see if folks find them to be problem-free and durable after a season or two of use.

And I'll also thank the self-selected guinea-pigs in advance for taking the courageous gamble on another iteration released less than 2 months after the recall of the Gen2 sticks was announced. I really do hope Gen3 is flawless and that you have no buyer's remorse down the road.

I just wish they all didn’t have plastic adjusters

Always afraid I’ll lean back in the cold and have one break

cords and prusik hitch would work a treat
To be fair backbands are for comfort and not made to be load bearing.

Oh great, they made changes that address the product's safety issues, instead of doing something to drive the hype train and be tacticool... Oh wait, nevermind.

I get it's a business, but shame on you Ernie and whoever else from tethrd still reads these posts.

I don’t think they changed anything but the color and the warning on the rope holder to say it’s not load bearing. Bet some idiot tried using a versa aider on it.

Anyway I think the change was more or less to differentiate what sticks are recalled and which are not….?

Yeah my sarcasm failed. It's very disappointing that it seems like all they changed was the color. Perhaps one of the gen 3 test dummies will be able to tell us if anything is structurally different.

Maybe the shafts are recycled from all the recalled ones that got sent back...thats what the color change? ;)

Just run a bolt through the pin with a nut on the back to stop it from walking out.

would a wire through the roll pin and around the stick end and then twisted as a loop do simlar?
