Geography lesson, lol. Post office needs a map.

So close....Yet so far. It was probably just down the street at one point. Then they sent it Baton Rouge. Why? Now, apparently it made it to Memphis (after I'm sure it narrowly escaped with its life the first time) and now it its headed.....?????? Why oh why? :tearsofjoy:

If I mail something locally it goes through a distribution center in Louisville (almost two hours east) and then eventually comes back.
My dad mailed a birthday card that took almost a week to travel what is like a three hour drive. Seems like a very inefficient system.

The package seems to have departed Memphis on Feb 21st and arrived in Memphis on Feb 22nd. So maybe it is in Memphis....If so, this will be it's second visit this trip.

Allegedly it is in Jackson now. If everything works perfectly it will be there several days, lol. If you are planning to make some hunting related purchases and want to get your gear before season, I'd plan to buy it before Easter, so hopefully you will get it before October.

I gave up on usps a while ago. I use ups unless the post office is stupid cheap. I will use the ups post or whatever it’s called. It is where ups will take it all the way to the delivering post office. I barely trust them to take it from the post office to the house.

The other day I read something on another forum about it, retired UPS employee or something. I don’t remember the details but something to the effect of packages virtually never go the shortest route because they’re bundled with thousands of other packages and moved as a load. The cheapest way to move the load far outweighs the distance a single package moves.

So they have no concept of sorting for efficiency? ;)
