Can anyone tell me how to keep wild edge steps from slipping out from under you or coming loose after you step up the tree? Seems like no matter how hard I try I cannot prevent them from either loosening or sliding under my foot while using them. Seems like every other time I have an ok experience climbing with them but I’m afraid I’m eventually going to fall because they’ll give way under me. I’m about ready to sell them. Thanks in advance!

I did not. I must have missed that part. Will that prevent them from coming loose then?

Yeah the ropes are gonna need to be stretched out just put them all on the biggest tree you can find as tight as you can. Takes a littlw play out of the rope and splice

Ok awesome. And do you think that’ll help with them slipping under foot when you’re trying to climb with them too?

it will keep the step from loosening while on the tree. once these things are cammed over they are rock solid. initial stretching of the ropes is crucial.

I mean the step isn't going to slip down the tree at all after stretched and camed over right. If that's what you mean.

Ok good to know. I must have missed that. Yeah I mean they would be more or less soldi feeling until I step onto them and usually they’ll shift down just a tad. Just enough to give you a good scare. I try to pay close attention to how I’m camming them over so pretty sure I’m doing it right. Double checked videos on how to do it too. I’ll have to try stretching them and see if it helps. Really like them and want them to work and feel like I can rely on them.

@Westdesign03 I had the same problem when I first used mine. I stretched them for about an hour on a small tree and I couldn't tighten them enough for me to stand on securely. I found a large tree at our camp and tighten them down for about 4 hours and retighten them for the night as @Gbond14 said. Now they are secure with me standing on them. Also watch what kind of tree your on. My practice tree was a black walnut which has a real course thick bark. My first hunting tree was an ash. Here in NY almost all ash trees are dying or dead thanks to emerald ash borer. I had one step that became loose under weight. The bark was dead and fell apart. I used my tree squeeze with lb on the way down for safety. One more thing is to check your knot tying. I tied one step wrong in the beginning of my practicing and came down 3 ft. real fast. I tied it wrong, my fault.

Thanks for the tips. Good to know. I have mine strapped to a tree in the yard right now. I’ll go check them and see if they need tightened. Left them on there all day. Yeah I’ve set them up wrong before too and they don’t work worth a crap if they’re not set up right. Hoping this will do the trick.

I have 2 16 packs and a 12. I just put them on a big tree and left them on for a week, then practice. Its not rocket science.

I put my steps on a tree in the yard for 24 hours. Took them out hunting today and am happy to report they are much better. They all went down solid, didnt loosen and none slipped on me. I have a lot more confidence with them now.

That's good news. I think most people, myself included are in a rush to try something out and take to many shortcuts. Who wants to read instructions!! Just be cautious of the bark on some trees. They don't all grab the same. If one step doesn't seem tight enough with your weight on it take the time to go back down and retie step and keep going up. Take your time and be safe. Good Hunting

Last night I finally sealed the deal on my first ever buck AND also my first ever bow kill! Feels so good to finally get one of these guys after all these seasons. I also have to say this hunt would not have been a success without the WE steps. This was right in the middle of an awesome pinch point on public land, located between a few fields with woods and tree lines, a large creek, and a big buck bedding area. Check out the tree I had to be in.

Right at last light, 3 bucks and 2 does cake in and ran circles around me. Awesome rut action! This guy was one of the better bucks running around in there. This guy was so love sick he barely knew what hit him.
