Ghillie suits

Never seen one of these. I wear a basic leafy mesh hood now, but this is like upgrading to Dwayne Johnson from Johnson & Johnson. Color me interested in this sniper viper thang.
Its like $40 on amazon and they have a ton of different colored yarn on there too that's pretty cheap. add it as thick or thin in areas as you want it! Check it out!

This is my Bushrag Marc Anthony jacket. The solid patch at the bottom is the left sleeve that came with an almost white looking tan fleece with no materials in the way. I painted it too. I have had a deer lick my boot while wearing this full suit in Indiana on public ground!

Thanks, I'm going to trim my left arm and chest pretty far back , and then might hit it wiht some spray as you suggsted since the brown mesh will likely be showing thorugh.

I have an Arturus warrior ghille that I bought off of ebay. This suit comes with a lot of material so I trimmed it up quite a bit. I also added elastic bands to the arms and I’m going to add additional draw strings to the mid section for a better fit. It is kind of baggy in the form fitting aspect. My suit of choice would have been a Marc Anthony bushrag ghille but I couldn’t find one anywhere. I pack mine in via back pack and deploy it at my destination. Here in middle TN the thick undergrowth makes it impossible to move around with stealth since it hangs up on everything.

Ok guys, sound like @Bwhana uses one, I know @DaveT1963 uses one. Who else out there uses a ghillie? WHos got some tips and tricks for me. I picked up a ranco safari shaggie, with face mask and shaggie boonie and am getting excited to give it a try. Hopeing it will work great in overgrown pastrure with bushes and high grass, but no trees. I still need to trim the bow arm down a little, but ordered a long arm guard to help. Any other thoughts? Thanks!!!!

You have to reset your mind to moving slower - even turning the head slower. I also use a bow ghillie blind to cover movement drawing my trad bow. There is a video on my youtube

Thanks dave, I'll check it out.

That video doesn't show it much - but absolutely helps hide the drawing arm movement - at 10 yards it makes all the difference IMO

Took an old arrow shaft, bent a wire to make frame - epoxied it into top/bottom on arrow shaft (I drilled two holes). stretch some netting added camo... then it just snaps into quiver like an arrow and rotates back towards bow while not in use. I cover it more in detail I think on my HB journal

Awesome, thanks!

I was hunting on a local military base going to my chosen area walking across a field when I reached the far side about 10 to 12 men stood up all wearing Ghillie suits and I walked right through the middle of them without seeing any of them they were marines on maneuvers and I am telling you that stuff really works good I was left wondering how close I came to stepping on one of them

Nice to see a lot of peeps have tried/are going to try one. I"m psyched to give it a go!

Mine is not quite that good, but I have had 2 different turkey hunters get to within 10 yards before they saw me in my suit. It was public land both times and I chose to sit still, too afraid to get shot if I tried to wave at them prior to that point.

There's no such thing as a cool ghillie suit in the south. Even the mesh one would feel like a sauna.

Preach. I used use a Bug Tamer jacket and pants during the early bow season. I would store it in my cooler full of ice and water. When I got out of the truck I put them on over a pair of shorts, lol.
