Giving out your number via trail cam - is this a thing?

You guys are going to get my camera stolen or damaged lol
I was just thinking about how many cameras he might have done this for or to. How would he know which hunter from what camera was contacting him. He clearly must do this a bunch if he had his number in large text ready to go.

When one of you guys gets the number figured out for certain let me know, I have some important things to send him and I'll probably get him signed up for several saddle-hunting text marketing campaigns... have to convert these unbelievers

Yahoo neighbor of a private property I hunt put his name and phone number on the no trespassing signs he put up...long story with a few run-ins with him.
Anywho, He was signed up for lots of stuff after a trip to the grocery store with the wife and I got a great idea to get all the subscriptions from all the female stuff/Mags I could find, LBGTQ newsletter, ETC.
Craigslist adds selling his 4-wheeler and boat too...

Maybe it's time for another round :smilingimp::smilingimp::smilingimp:...lol

I've attempted this with a few cameras I've stumbled on in the woods as well. Haven't got a call/text (or signed up for spam) yet so not sure if they weren't interested or if I sucked at leaving a legible number. Even found a camera on the ground on a dead tree that had fallen within the last day or two once, rolled it over to point back toward the game trail (but left it strapped in place to indicate how I was helping not stealing), gave it a thumbs up and walked away. Worst case I get more spam calls that I ignore, best case I make a hunting buddy or can share information with someone. everyone I've met in person has been nice enough, I figure if they know I'm not messing with their stuff, odds of them going out of their way to screw with my number are low. Or at least let them know I'm in the same areas of woods so game on lol

Some of our FWAs have sign-in/out requirements. I had a guy once leave his number at the check station while turkey hunting asking to text him. We had spoke earlier that day after going after the same bird. I had snuck up to about 10 yards away from the dude without seeing him so I just sat down and let him work the bird. It ended up hanging up at about 70 yards and working off.

So a dozen or so years ago I was at a bar with a buddy who worked for the forest service. We were minding our own business when we were interrupted by a gentleman who just had to tell us, in graphic detail, that he had found this USFS trail cam 'way back in the Boundary Waters, so obviously he stripped naked, pulled his hat down over his face, and spent 10 minutes dancing in front of the trail cam. Barry said, "Well, that's sure a great story, I'll be sure to look for those pictures when I pull the cards". After the guy left, Barry leaned over and whispered, "I don't have any trail cameras out. Some poor bear hunter is in for a shock!"

I just had someone throw up a peace sign in front of one of mine. Hopefully I get a follow up to confirm it's still there/functional lol. After being out for a year with minimal humans on cam this happens the day after posting about holding up my number lol

Edited to add: nocturnal photos (birds lol) confirm camera is still there/functioning, and whoever that person was, was a good one. I suppose that also confirms I can get to it without getting too wet now lol

I’m usually good at spotting guys cams and not walking in front of them. The few times a year I notice I’m standing in front of a cam I give a big thumbs up or the devil horns and keep walking. Would never dream of advertising my phone #.
Would also never dream of wearing the hat that Mr Vortex is sporting there.

This thread got me wondering about how different people approach other peoples trail cameras. So I started a poll:
