Hello everyone
Greetings from Northern Louisiana aka Southern Arkansas. I guess living north of 10 makes everything Southern Arkansas.
I’m dipping my toe in to the saddle hunting world. After a few short years using a Summit Viper Classic. I’ve been looking at the saddle setups. Reading up on different manufacturers I ultimately decided on the Buzzard Roost Saddle. And I’m going to dive right in going with a 1 stick. The stick I’m going to get is the OOAL Slick Rick in a 12” step and a 2 step aider with 17” spacing.
After reading through some other threads. I’m hoping I can keep my wallet closed after the initial purchases. Lol.

Welcome from Virginia Beach. Grew up in Mer Rouge, near Bastrop, so I’m familiar with the area. I did the same, went from the viper direct to one sticking at 58yo. Can’t imagine doing it any other way now. That said, I would offer a little unsolicited advice on the aider. 15” is kind of the sweet spot for most folks, especially when you start putting the clothes on and I‘ve found three steps to have several advantages over two steps. IMO three step aider with 15” spacing does three things: Gets you higher on first move. Let’s you go with shorter step spacing and still get better height than a two step. Even if you get no extra height after 1st move, on successive moves that third step will be right by your foot, easy to get your foot into, which gets the aider off the tree, making it easier to hit step 2 and 1. Just some thoughts to think about before you place your order. Good Luck!

I will definitely keep that 3 step aider in mind with a 15 inch step. I haven’t ordered my single stick yet. I been through Mer Rouge many times. Small town don’t blink.

If you live north of Dry Prong....

It's actually Bunkie and Marksville.

Welcome from Acadiana.

Be safe out there!
