Gri gri vs mad rock question

Think I’m rappeling down the rabbit hole in 2021. I’ve dabbled in indoor climbing, so really like the gri gri in belay. Leaning in that direction (vs mad rock). My only reservation is that it seems noisy. I’m not worried about it being slightly more expensive. Did a search, couldn’t see anything driving the preference to madrock. Also, with gri gri, canyon IV still hit the sweet spot diameter wise? (Most interested in ease of use and safety vs bulk). Thanks in advance for all the great knowledge sharing from the pioneers on this site.

The Madrock Safeguard doesn't have a spring to hold it open when not weighted so it is not as good for belaying but is better for just climbing since it does not pop open when unweighted.

Seems like the Grigri is easier to use going by some of the posts from people having issues learning how to use the madrocks

If you're only rappelling and not using the device to ascend, consider a figure 8 or an ATC used in conjunction with an autoblock. You will spend less money, have less weight to carry, and be quieter.
