I use orange duct tape over my muzzle. .444 is a large aperture to cover. I can easily confirm covered in low light or after a slip and fall. Plus it's translucent enough to sight down the bore and confirm that I don't have any condensation or whatever from several snowy/sleety days. Duct tape adhesive is a bit tougher to get off than electrical tape or Frogtape, but bore solvent cleans it up pretty quickly. I use 3, 3", half-width strips (cross them over the muzzle, and then a wrap around them for insurance). Next year I'll use 4 wraps around it; I took a shot while still-hunting in to my tree, missed, and had to patch the remnants to bodge a fresh muzzle cover. If I wrap enough extra tape on my barrel to provide for tracking and follow-up shots - or, ideally, multiple deer - I'll be that much better prepared.
I had an issue using my Dynaglide pulldown rope as a haul-up rope for my rifle. Too slippery on my gloves. So I strapped it to my pack, and tied it to the tag end of my rappel rope / climbing tether. It was heavy but easy enough to handle. I might use a second retractable dog leash for my rifle, as that cord is easier to manage.
I'm going to have to incorporate an air gun into my summer climbing / archery practice sessions.
I hang my rifle by the sling, from my bow hanger. Works just fine. Also works to balance it on my bridge. You might be more comfortable dummy-cording it to yourself somehow, maybe a 1-point sling or something similar.
