H2 talk

Had one at the beginning of last season. Really well made wanted to like it but just like many single panel saddles the bottom strap dug into my lower thighs. I could only sit in it for about an hour. Bought a Treehopper Recon and it is soooooo much nicer. Sat in it for 8 hours no problem. The adjustability of a two panel saddle is what makes them superior.
Please don’t take this the wrong way as I am sure you understand your saddle. However that sounds like an adjustment issue. Did you try bringing the prusiks on the actual bridge loops up a little? This changes the angle of the holding pressure. When mine is up on the high side of my loops it literally takes enough pressure off of my thighs that I can fit my fingers under my legs and the webbing. I am assuming based on the bridge, that the H2 saddles would be the same. Although there is a lot of cupping shape in the H2 so I am unsure. That problem is not a “single panel” problem for all single panel saddles as long as they are adjustable on the bridge loops. Just like it takes adjusting in a two panel to find the sweet spot, single panels need fine tuning as well at least in my experience.

Yes I adjusted them all it did for me was put more pressure on the upper strap. Heath and his H2 saddles are awesome along with his customer service. I started out with the sit drag then Mantis, Tactisaddle and then H2. When I went to the recon the difference was amazing. Sitting on four 2” webbing straps is way more comfortable and having that much adjustability beats the single panel saddles hands down.

I have an H2 sling shot with the leg straps and I am very pleased with it. Well made and comfy for me. No reason for me to change. It works and is reasonably priced.

So I traded my Method for a slingshot. Sat in it for a few minutes. It's a lighter more simple version of my kestrel. Over all I would say this is a good saddle for a good price. Mixed feelings on the amsteel bridge. I liked the bridge in the method better. But the lighter weight leg strap on the H2.

The H2 was my first saddle. I do really like it but not a huge fan of sitting in it, but it is great for leaning. I just got a Latitude classic and love it. Much better for sitting and of course works great for leaning. But still like my H2 and am keeping it. At this point I’ll probably use the H2 with a tree stand and the Latitude for straight saddle use.

Regarding the AmSteel bridge, I liked it at first and still think it’s ok, but it is very difficult to adjust after being under weight. I ended up adding the original webbing bridge back onto it and now just have both bridges on there. It’s not a big deal and really not much more bulk IMO with both on there. Kinda makes me feel more secure with both on too even if it’s just redundant.
