Half Ashby

I have cutthroats on order but until I'm sure they fly like darts I will be sticking with my current broadheads.
I can confirm that mine group with my field points out to 60 yards. They probably group further but that was as far as I was comfortable shooting a Reinhardt 18 in 1 without a backstop. YMMV

An easy adjustment would be to upgrade to a more durable head and make sure it’s scary sharp. Almost none are sharp enough out of the box. Add a 50 grain outsert and see if it flies. If it doesn’t, sell the outserts. You’ll still be better off with a sharp durable head.
Next year, take the summer to play with it. It’s actually a very enjoyable learning experience.

Ed Ashby lived and hunted in Africa for a lot of years. He fed tribes with animals that he shot with both bullets and arrows. He killed literally hundreds of critters PER MONTH with bow and arrow and he studied and documented the wounds, lethality, and arrow components. Ed was shooting live animals and re-shooting freshly killed animals prior to rigormortis. He shot heavy bone and he shot flesh. His tests were the most applicable demonstrations that pertain to what we do.
Sand and gel is apples to oranges when comparing to live animals. Nothing else duplicates the muscle contraction and lubrication (caused by blood) by arrow-shot critters for measuring penetration.
