We've all got it lying around and it's cheap, lightweight, compact. After looking through the pages of this forum and seeing all the DIY ideas you guys have come up with, I had to laugh at myself for overlooking the uses of paracord in hunting. Not my ideas but just my take on a few things.......

Tree strap
How simple can it be? I've always carried screw in steps or the rubber coated hooks to hang gear from, not anymore. This strap replaces 4 or 5 metal screw ins, thus removing weight from my pack and freeing up space. I'm going to redo this one as I have the loops to far apart, the orange loop just gives me a visual to know which end is which and helps save time setting up.

Long endless loop
Going to carry several of these with me for those setups that have limbs within arms length. With the longer loop you have the advantage of adjusting the length by simply wrapping it around the limb to shorten it up.

I hope this might help some newbies (as I am) and give them some ideas. Thanks again for all the members of this forum for sharing their ideas, it is much appreciated by all of us.

Good idea

You can use little prusiks to make you connections points adjustable if they’re not already. I couldn’t tell in the pics.

I've seen how alot of you guys use the prusiks and really like the adjustability of them, great idea. I was just trying to us the KISS system for my little pea brain, mine is one piece of paracord with loops tied in. Figured I would just use the loop that I needed and the others wouldn't be in the way enough to matter. SnakeEater, is that your actual tether that the prusicks are on? Looks like I see a tail hanging down is why I ask.

No it’s a separate rope that’s slightly larger diameter than 550 cord. I was hanging my pack on the tag end to keep it tight. I tied a loop in the one end to girth hitch on the tree, then slide a prusik up to the joint of the girth hitch and the weight of my pack would keep it tight around the tree.

I did the something similar with some extra accessory cord I had laying around, but I tied alpine butterfly knots every 6 inches or so throughout the line. I like your setup more than mine. Specifically the use of the prussik's and the flexibility it offers. Also, pulling the extra butterfly knots on the tail through the girth hitch can be annoying.

Thanks for sharing.

I might have to go up in size if the paracord doesn't work out, then those prusicks would be necessary. Thanks for sharing.

Endless Loop.....saved me a climb down yesterday after dropping my gear tether. Just another reason to keep one in your pack.20201108_205437.jpg

Saved me yet again....twice.
1) Used my new multi step aider and didn't need the 4th stick. Used the endless loop to hang it securely in the tree so the wind wouldn't blow it around, didn't want to drop it to the ground and make noise either.

2) Muzzy ended Friday here in Tennessee and gun opened Saturday, stupid me forgot to swap the sling over.....no problem, endless loop did the trick. Amazing how something so simple can be so useful. 20201123_102933.jpg

Those TRC tag ends are so short they give me anxiety looking at them.
So that makes 3 of you guys that have brought this to my attention. I ordered this tether from Latitude Outdoors and it came like this, think I'll start another thread to see if others received the same. I am going to contact LO and see what they say. Thanks guys for bringing this to my attention.....to be continued.
