Hawk Helium 20

I got mine two weeks ago and they seem fine am going to swap straps for my lw straps like them better.Got the versa strap aider for it and seems to be best CAYO aider that I’ve used.Have no trouble with any of the aiders on way up but all the rest were difficult in way down.

Which CAYO aider are you using? Did you buy it or make it?

For you guys that have been doing this a while, Im 260 pounds. I also would like to replace the straps with Amsteel but Im worried it would cause too much tension. I admit Im a fat boy and need to loose weight okay?
Ive also heard Amsteel is louder on loose bark tree than 8mm. Im a noob so any info would be appreciated.

I weigh 270 and I’ve been using 7/64 amsteel daisy chains for a season. I haven’t had an issue yet with mine and don’t suspect I will

I received mine a few weeks ago from Midway and there were no issues. Had them out about 3 or 4 times. I did get a single Versa strap for one to try out. Wanted to make sure I liked it. Worked pretty well in the few trees I’ve climbed. Moving forward I will probably purchase 3 more of the Versas or try the Amsteel first and see what I like better. Have you used the Versas? Looking for opinions on how they stack up against the Amsteel daisy chains. Thanks,
Matt
I have tried the versas and I like my amsteel daisies better.

I was wrong, SRT Saddle Hunter. At the 3 minute mark.
I don’t have a dog in the fight but there has been some question on the forum whether doing the aider through the step like that is a bad idea. You can see the discussion in this thread.

Thank you @five! I will check it out.

Yep, gonna scratch that idea off the list. Thanks @five , you may have just saved my life.

Not the person you're replying to, but this is the one I see referenced on here most often:

I'm looking to do a DIY versa button for my new 20" heliums. I think I'm going to make the fender washer rather small so I can get custom 7/64th amsteel daisy chains and have the loops on the daisy chain 1.5" per loop. I think this would help get rid of the "falling in between the loops" when securing the sticks to the tree.

You say that. But I think that will be a problem no matter what. I’ve never climbed a tree that wasn’t in between loops. You’ll always want to get it in that next hole. Good luck with it though. If it works post it up on here.
