I’m just starting off with the one stick Technique and before I dive into buying the ultimate one stick from ewo I was going to try and make one of my hawk heliums easier to use with a cam cleat. Has anyone mounted a cam cleat to a hawk helium? Any suggestions?

Yeah, I cut a helium down, moved the steps, added some EWO brackets, and a cam cleat. I made a full bury of Amsteel. I didn't drill the stick for the cam cleat. I just used the holes on the left side of the stick. You can do pretty much anything you want to any stick, just takes creativity and money.

Yes, I’ve done it. Works great. Not hard, you can do it.

I just added one last week - I drilled holes in my 20" stick to add a Harken 150 cleat to the stick. I'm using some 6mm accessory cord for the rope. I just tied one end around the versa button.

How stable is that setup? ie...side pressure?
When climbing with my hawk helium and cam cleat, I don't do anything special to set the stick. When I set the stick to use as part of my ROS, I use this method from @Hunter260 to get it extra tight:

It is not as stable as a cammed-over platform, OCB or ratchet strap, but it is stable enough for me as part of my ROS. Try it for yourself.

I have done this with supplies from EWO for button/cleat/rope and have put the platform on top with polyurethane line (I use that for making texas rigs for duck hunting) for pulling up and unlocking it from the tree. It bites well for me but not as much as my EDP platform does but I dont lean sideways on the stick like I do the platform though. The only thing I dont care for is the hawk stick platform doesn't grip well so I have added some "texture" with an angle grinder wheel and will probably add grip tape or spray on bed liner if later in the season it proves necessary.

I had to go test this since I don't use it in a manner which really generates side pressure. On the red oak in my yard, the bottom step it will kick pretty easy. The top step is more stable and doesn't really move too much.
I use the stick for vertical movement then set a platform up at the same height as my stick. I set the platform about 90 from the stick in case I want to step around the tree a little, but I'm not using the stick as a focus point to swing myself around a tree.
