I'm brand new to this (don't even have my Mantis yet), and I think I've got my hauling method serviceable. Using an Alps backpack and toting full length Heliums. Any suggestions on transporting other than what I've got going on here?

I’d try making them strapped on vertical if you can.I cut my helium’s and wished I hadn’t.They are pretty long and will snag stuff walking aroubd

I agree if your walking through anything but open fields or hardwoods those sticks are gonna be a pain to keep from snagging on everything. Even my 24” sticks get hung up packing this way.

I tried to get them vertical, but the nature of the pack with the pouch acting like a shelf made that pretty difficult. The upper half of the pack is not stiff at all, so it made it super unstable.

I have two access points (open field and creek bed) where the snags won't be an issue. When getting to the thicker spots, what type of sling could be used for it?

As I am ready to cut my Heliums down, would you share why you regret it? I’ve been running them stock length for this season and have decided I don’t need them that long but I appreciate your opinion.

I use a Horn Hunter G2 to transport them vertically but I also have a luggage strap that has niteize gear ties at the ends for easy transport. Thinking of a way to use my aider as the strap though.

That definitely looks like a more stable pack. However, I'm trying to avoid spending any more money than I have to. I've already spent way too much. The rabbit hole is endless.

I bought an over the shoulder strap that has clips on each side the clips fit right into the little holes on the sticks...now I wear the strap across my chest over the shoulder and carry my sticks like a women would her purse...works for me! I turn them sideways through heavy brush in front of me and push right through...I like it this way I also drt so I like that they are not on my bag so I can just stash them next to my tree if I don’t need em....and not have to put them out...also to hold the sticks together I just use a strap that bites itself I cut it to make it short and easy to rap around the sticks I’ll post a picture later...peace

Is there a way to strap them on vertically while avoiding head banging? Honestly IMO there's never a great solution with sticks, just what you're willing to live with.

I’ll PM you don’t want to hijack a thread

I tried strapping them to a few packs and never found a way that I liked. This has been the best method I have found so far:

All that said, I am looking at trying out the one stick climbing method for this weekend.

Link for anyone interested. I did the 2-4 foot but probably could have been ok going a bit longer. Definitely wouldn't want it any shorter.
