Does anyone have a problem with the hawk helium’s kicking out on you? I can’t seem to get the bottom stand-off to really grip the tree. I’m using 7/64 daisy chains for my attachment method I’m not sure if I would have better luck with the factory cam buckles if that would help or not. Any suggestions?

I have never had a kick out with the stock buckles.

Okay so maybe ill try the stock buckles and see what I get. The daisy chains are just so light and convenient I hate to switch back to them bulky buckles lol

Are you setting the stick by pulling it down hard. I have never used daisy chains. Setting it is important for any system. If you haven't been pulling down on the stick try the daisy chains again and set it. Many people report they have no trouble with daisy chains.

I’ve used the stock straps. Amstel and the versatile straps. Never been an issue unless I didn’t set it hard enough.

I’ve seen a little wiggle, but never an actual kick out.

Yeah I’m pulling down on the stick setting it properly. The top stand off bites in good but the bottom standoff kind of just rest against the tree not really biting in.

It never actually kicked out while I was standing on it. How I noticed was once I climbed to the top and set my platform I climbed back down so I could take a picture from ground level. Once I started climbing up once I put my hands on the steps to pull myself up the bottom standoff would completely pull itself away from the tree.

Are you putting your feet against the tree and pulling on the bottom or middle step? That would cause it to pull away. Try to keep your weight over the stick and don't pull sideways in any direction.

Not that I had noticed. I dont have any problems climbing with my XOP sticks and they are always rock solid. That was my first time with my helium’s so I’ll just have to play around with it a bit more.

I’m having the same issue with the 20 inch helium’s. A tree with just the slightest offset or not perfectly flat it does the same for me too.

Just a thought since I have never used Daisy chains but with any attachment method having the strap tight and as close to the same horizontal plane as versa button is key to keeping pressure on bottom half of the stick. I have cut down LW with amsteel rope mod so keeping the rope horizontal and tight before pulling down is easier than picking the closest loop. Also try pulling out and pulling down on the bottom of the stick. Any attachment method with a high angle will mainly secure the top part of the stick.

Spent the afternoon climbing with the Hawk Helium minis using Amsteel rope mods and the Versa Aider and they were solid as can be. Prestretched the mods yesterday and today. I am liking this setup.

I'm running 20" heliums with 7/64 amsteel daisy chains and the first test I had with them I did experience some kick out. After that I got them to bite nice once I figured out the daisy chains. Sometimes I have to rotate the stick from the tree to get to the tightest loop but its been running very smooth for me after that initial test run.

Yep, this is how you have to use daisy chains

What do you mean rotate the stick?

Swing the chain around, pull bottom standoff off the tree, push it up and to the right toward the tree and you can get 1 more link in the chain and pull the bottom stand-off back to you.
I’ll have to try it out. You think that will eliminate the stick kicking out on me?
