Got my Hawk minis last week. Assembled them then stacked them together. Now they won't come apart. I'm pulling with everything I have, to the point where I think they are going to break. Am I missing something here? Is there a trick or something I don't know about?

Unfortunately there was some quality issue with the minis. I used to have them and cut my hands up trying to get them apart and work them so they would loosen up. Instead of loosening they began shredding the cups themselves.

If you search the forum there are a number of work arounds people have done to help the issue. Short of replacing the cups and buttons with a different type, the most popular work around seemed to be sanding down the edges of the buttons and shaving the inner edges of the cups.

After a while people would have their buttons just break off all together. To my knowledge there’s never been a recall or any kind of remedy released from hawk.

Needless to say I tried to mod my minis heavily in addition to trying to fix the button/cup issue. Eventually just sold the sticks and moved on.

The first full length hawks were pretty awesome for the money. Sure wish the minis would have turned out the same.

My 30" sticks were the same way. I took my knife and shaved down the inner lip and now the snap in, hold tight and pull apart easy.

My advice, ditch those suction cups and hold the sticks together with a pair of bungees. Trust me, your life will be better.

I had the same problem. At first I used the Dremel to grind them down, but eventually just took the suctions off and replaced them with the mule system from genesis3Dprinting.

These have been way better for me, easy on easy off and it's quiet

Literally just went through this last night with my new sticks. Finally when I got them apart the button on one stick broke and stayed inside the cup of the opposite stick. Ridiculous. I took a razor blade and shaved the lip off all the cups. Now they are actually still a bit tough to separate but with a good tug pop right apart. I figure they don’t really need to stick together. I’ll wrap them all together and strap them to my pack in one piece so really they don’t even need to be stuck together. I think the button and cup will basically just keep the sticks from banging together a bunch and creating noise.
