As long as there is enough moon light for me to see I go no light from truck to hunting height. On those overcast or new moon phases when it's pitch black I will use a red headlamp, switching it on and off as needed for the walk in and then on for the climb but always cupping my hand around it to keep the illumination to a minimum

Same

Prefer nothing, but head lamp on red if I need it. White light on low setting if red ain’t cutting it.

Same also. I know where a lot of people hunt because of there headlamps.

I keep a head light in my pack in case I'm dragging something, or if I'm blood trailing at the end of the day. I use a flashlight in my hand going in in the morning with just enough red light thru the crack between my fingers to navigate without losing an eye.

Always use a headlamp. I feel my safety is much more important than putting a trophy on the wall. Depending on situation I rotate between white and red. Have also used a green light. Depending on what headlamp i grab.

Super bright white headlamp. I'm not going to get shot, and the deer don't seem to mind. I've gotten within 20yrds of them with a full headlight beam. The THP guys talked about this, they think the noise/scent is usually the problem in completely dark situations, it's the grey light where deer seem to react to the white light. I don't mind if people figure out where I hunt, that helps me not get shot, and I only hunt there once or twice a year anyway.

I carry a headlamp with red, green and white light. Use them whichever the situation dictates. Prefer no light.

Headlamp, red light for me. I tried with no light for a while and found I made more noise. Hard to pick out small sticks and overhanging branches with no light. Turns out I'm not a big fan of twigs to the face/eyes...

I use green on my headlamp. Most swamps I hunt are dark as sin even with a good moon. I prefer not to step on a moccasin or catch a stick to the retina.

The 'huff huffing'' of a black bear is kinda nerve racking.....even more so in the pitch black. woods are too thick around here to head in without a light.

Small geen light and yellow lens shooting glasses most times if going in the dark (rare for me). Otherwise, I prefer to walk in and setup just as the light is breaking, but still have about 30 mins before real shooting light. If a deer is already in the spot I am hunting, it will be gone by shooting light anyway, so I see no need to be there too early. The birds waking up make good cover noise for walking in too.

Single AA, very low lumen, wrapped in rubber hose extending 1" past lens. Small enough to hold with my mouth if needed. Parachord to girth hitch near my elbow. Duplicate in my backpack.
Oh, and to answer the poll, I only turn a light on if I need it.

That's how I like to cover the last two or three hundred yards. If I'm trying to catch a buck going back to bed, that dictates a full dark entry and at least an hour sit in the dark. I love being in place when the woods start to lighten.

I would never walk in to or from my stand in the low light or dark without some kind of light purely for safety reasons....I don't want to get shot by mistake....
I edited my post after looking at it again....I guess I need to do a better job of reviewing what I say before I post lol because I left out 'without some kind of light'....

I like to go in in the dark fluttering a white handkerchief so the deer think im another deer and so do the hunters. Its an especially effective tool during gun season. Or I'm showing the deer I'm surrendering before I even start hunting.

No,,,, red lens headlamp followed by green as a second choice. As another posted Many bears in my neighborhood! If I'm gonna be eaton I wanna see who's doin the eaton!

Billy saw the bear
The bear saw Billy
The bear was bulgie
The bulge was Billy!
