I was just watching the climbing video above again.
It looks as though the bottom of the cloak is quite open when sitting in the saddle!
I figure I better is that too! Not only could it be drafty, but if s squatch happens to walk underneath, look up and see my knickers then we'll HAVE to get married!
Instead of shooting deer, I'll be picking fleas of our blurry monkey babies!

Ok I've finished my SJK thermal cloak. I'm in "the Couv" right now but I'll make a vid when I get home.
I may want a foam pad on the tree for the knees on this to prevent wear. I have some xtra can straps around I may thread through some foam.
Better ideas are appreciated.

One of those foam seats strapped to the tree is probably sufficient.

Fawnzy, that thing looks pretty nice. Is the material quiet? How is the access for you to pee while you're in the tree?

It looked like it was way easier to climb in it than I thought it was going to be.

Hi Red,
The material is quiet in summer temps. I won't know more until the temp drops.
As far as peeing I don't see an issue. Plenty of space and the zipper should go down far enough.
I'll give it a try. No video. I promise!

Haha. Thanks for withholding that video!

In the time it took to pick up all my kit, the rest of the water was mostly absorbed. So 5 handfuls would likely do for .5 l that's about 17 fl oz for you southerners. I'll take 2 or 3 bags in. I don't reuse. Once zipped they stay sealed. https://vimeo.com/138405762https://vimeo.com/138405972

fawnzy I am literally ROFL right now

Thanks for testing that bad boy out!

I think your kitty litter is a great idea because I know that I've had bags of pee break on me before. I use a bottle now for any 1/2 days hunts but might have to consider the kitty litter when I know I'll need more space.

Why do you guys think this is warmer than a full insulated coverall with a heavy insulated jacket? Is there something about the shape that makes it better? Their website says it is 120 and 150 gram Thinsulate but a lot of bibs and jackets are 180 and 200 gram Thinsulate.

I need something because I get cold after about 2 hours of no movement if it is below 50.

I like doing long sits in the winter. I tried dayone's insulated wool parka and bibs last year and while they are the best thing I have used so far for warmth on long sits below 30 degrees...I still got cold after 4 hours. My feet are the first to go. I got some baffin impact boots and those are the best boots I have to date. I have tried the mickey mouse (black military boots) too. They are 2nd best. Anyway, Im trying the IWOM this year. I dont think Ill use it with the evo or web though. Maybe with the web, If i can make or come up with a platform. I do have a summit open shot I could use the bottom...but that would be a pain to carry in. I will know soon enough if this is a better solution from a warmth perspective. I am hoping that the IWOM will help my feet too...since they will be covered. I know I get colder than most...probably low circulation...especially to my feet....too many injuries to my ankles. I do a ton of mt biking and have a very low resting heart rate...around 50bpm. So that doesnt help either.

I just got the IWOM yesterday in fall gray. I think it works like a sleeping bag really. I do a lot of winter camping....outside in heavy layers you can still get cold. Climb into a good cold weather sleeping bag and you stay warm. lol. Here is a pic of the IWOM in fall gray. It looks and fits awesome. By the way, the Dayone wool in ASAT is really good stuff too..and probably would work well for most. It will be what I wear in the 30-40 degree range. Iwom for colder or windy days.

I can't tell you how well the thermal cloak will work yet. I haven't been out in the cold yet. It will let me climb in my harness and will surround me in warm air. I'll report back in late November. A little late, I know but that's when I'll be out.

The iwom look like the bottom zips open. If you can hitch it up above your knees, you should be able to climb and the drop it back down. I'd leave the bottom unzipped. Make some skirts in the front so you can wear your harness underneath.

Nicely done on the HBS. I don't think I'll be modifying mine. If I need the HBS I'll use my climber or a hang on stand.

Here is my modified body heater suit. I removed the feet and put 2 holes in front for the bridge. And I also added a pocket on the outside for rangefinder

Nice work on the HBS mods.

Wish I could see it, but pics aren't loading for me right now
