Hello all! I'm new to hunting and new to saddles, but this forum has helped a ton in pointing me in the right direction. Looking forward to learning more and getting out there! Only lived in MD for a couple of years now, but it seems like there's some decent public land near me that I'm excited to check out.

Not sure how many other Marylanders there are on here, but if anyone familiar with the area knows of good place to go for target practice from a saddle, please let me know! Living in an apartment in the city makes it tough, and I don't have any family or friends who hunt so any info helps!

Hello from Baltimore! Best place I know of close to the city shows up in Google under Archery Range - Free, 7237 Graces Quarters Rd, Middle River, MD 21220. Nice quality targets (for field points) and plenty of trees to climb and shoot from.

Welcome from Anne Arundel County! I would think the biggest issue with a typical range is would be allowing you to climb and shoot.

Before I had property I would go to the local park and shoot, since nobody was ever there, just have to make sure you are aware of how your country treats bows/archery. Some places treat them as weapons and firearms. Even if you don't find a place to shoot from the tree, it is definitely beneficial to practice maneuvering with your bow, or coming to full draw and letting down. I learned the hard way that some positions were near impossible to draw and almost blew a hunt because of it.

Hi everyone! Thanks for the tips, glad there are some MD'ers here! I'll try to check out the free range up by Gunpowder that Wolnot suggested, and I'll message you Bigterp, would be great to get together.

Welcome from middle river! I recommend the gunpowder archery range also, I've been down there almost everyday the past month. They just replaced all the targets so now is a good time.
