Help me find a job

Join the Army. Access to some of the best hunting land available, adequate insurance and pay, start out with 30 days leave, free job skills training, travel to exotic places and meet interesting people, free hunting gear, lodging and gym membership. Free meals when away from home, family support systems...I would do it all over agian!

One of my cousins puts up guardrails. Gets laid off over the Winter and gets hired back on in the Spring. Makes pretty decent money for only working part of the year.

I know of a guy here in upstate NY who works as a prison guard and by pulling double shifts throughout part of the year manages to get 90+ days off for hunting. He took the job to fit his hunting needs.

Life is compared to a vapor. I did not understand this until I looked up one day and realized mine was vanishing away..There are no “Do Overs” in this life, so I hope you take the right path. From the first post of yours I read on this forum I knew you are a talented Individual. I hope you find something that allows you to use your talents. I wish you the best in your endeavor.

If you are the academic advisor then shouldn't you be the one giving others advice on what to do?? If its an online university then why couldnt you work from home? I love to hunt just as much as anybody but you also have to think about your future and possibly kids futures. Good health insurance is a huge benefit. Your young now but wont be forever and it goes by quick. Tomorrow isnt promised but you might wake up 50 years from now and you will want to know that you are taken care of financially.

Being an electrician, it sounds like you have a gravy job already. If you aren’t happy, change it! Your in an amazing position with your wife as support to do it now. If you wait too long kids and life may have you locked in like the rest of us.

Though I do have some plans to sell a product I designed, it is tough with three young boys and remodeling my house to make any advancements there.

Carpe diem buddy!

I was your age when i came to work at our local electric co-op.Was on my way to becoming a CPA when i realized it just wasn’t who i was.A buddy talked me into getting into line work and have been there ever since.Dont want to do anything else for a living.Been able to make a good living for my wife and kids.Always got to be home and be Daddy for the most part.Ofcourse there was some traveling to storm work from time to time.I work 4 ten hour days normally and get 4 weeks a year vacation and a 2 more for sick time so i get to do a LITTLE hunting.LOL
And hey I promise you will become very adept at climbing.
Good Luck Young Buck

The skill of welding is starting to be hard to find. If you are talented enough and don't care to travel 6 months a year.....60s is not unusual. But......you have to travel and get perdiem for living expenses. Just an idea that you might have a natural ability to do. Going to tech school is as expensive either. Thanks

Isn't as expensive......sorry!

Man, the bug must be in the air.

the traveling thing wont work for you as I doubt Mrs. Nutter will tolerate that. Hunting all day is one thing but you coming home weekly, may find your saddle and squirrel steps on the front porch, or Jody may be using them. I am on the North ends of the timeline ill be 60 next year. I changed careers last year, but got 3 weeks vacation which was cool, but I have a 12 year old so some of that has to be family vaca or my saddle will be on the porch.. Remember the better you are at something the more value you provide the more it pays..High School coaches make maybe 40K per year, Nick Saben makes 9Million, same job but different animal. Dont do it because you get 3 months off, 9 months of hating it may not be worth it. the ultimate would be to figure out what you would like to do, that you could do in spring and summer and find a way for it to take care of the bills. (downsize?)

Nothing earth shattering there, I think I wrote it for me:)

My neighbor is a prison maintenance manager and works double shifts with the second being time and a half and all he does is sit hospital bed side security and watch Netflix. Dude has more vacation, retirement and pension than he knows what to do with. Makes me wonder why my parents talked me into engineering....
