Help me fix the knee to tree pain.

If this doesn't do it for you, nothing will...

Nice job. It's exactly why the .5 seat back works. Personally, I don't go in for the rotating design, but maybe it's the cats meow for some.

Nonetheless, for the most knee-afflicted hunters, I'd still recommend getting knees off the tree.

One that hasn't been mentioned is the OOAL Rut Roost.

I don't want to derail but the rut roost is/can be a seat??!!!??? Showing my newbie! I wondered what the appeal was but have never investigated. Count my small mind as blown

Ive gotten a couple ideas to tryfrom this thread. Im defiantly going to try this one also. Thanks!

Love the Drey but did a sit yesterday and even with Trophyline knee pads was having to use muscles to keep my self comfortably positioned. I then put my Petzl Podium back on my Tengu saddle and fabricated a slotted piece of 1.5" schedule 40 pvc. With this tube I was able to keep myself away very nicely very much like when I had a JX3- kinda a poor man's version. I am finding that it is not so much about knee contact as it is about fatigue induced by trying to keep my knees together. It is just another way to be relaxed and comfortable for a long sit. I also made a padded back pad using a Tethrd knee pad/ G hook.

Use a ROS instead of a platform, and keep the knee pads. You can sit a lot of different ways and readjust to get the pressure off.

Sometimes when my knees are getting weary after a lot of hours in the saddle with them pressed against the tree, I shorten my tether way up til I’m semi-standing. You can still sit in the saddle and it gets the pressure off your knees. If a deer comes be ready to slowly lengthen the tether so you can move for a shot.

I'm primarily a leaner but I've tried a tree pad in the past for the rare times I sit. It's uncomfortable. I don't know why/how you guys do it.

Straddling the tree works better for me, but I'm not doing it for long...
I agree about straddling the tree for short periods. I’m a tile guy and knee pads work great on a flat surface, not so much on a cupped tree, also I wear them enough at work I don’t want to wear them while hunting.

This will be my 4th year saddle hunting. Im a sitter and my only complaint is knees into the tree. I have the Tethered look alike knee pads. Ive also tried the Latitude pads. Still not getting the comfort Im looking for. Im thinking about a trying a strap around the tree pad. What are you guys using thats actually worked for you. Be it knee pads to try or a pad to strap to the tree.
Trophyline pads or my rancho safari’s i put extra padding in. I actually have them for sale in the classifieds

A small ring of steps works for me. Just being able to switch feet position and not fight keeping knees into the tree can really help. An OCB strap and 2 steps is definitely worth a try.

I've tried all the different knee pads. I don't think any of them are overwhelmingly better then the other
I have one that i put extra padding in if yiur interested.
ill sell them to ya cheap

I went to Tractor Supply and bought a $20 seat cushion. It's really thick and nice. I was gonna cut it in half like I've seen other guys do for packability but I opted not too. It will serve me for a butt cushion when I elect to sit on the ground. Yesterday I actually attached my platform to the tree and sat on it like a chair while using the pad as a seat cushion. I justify the extra size because it's multiple applications. It nearly matches my Cruzr platform in size so I use the pad to separate my sticks from my platform and it silences the pack. I can tell you, I've tried knee pads but didn't love them. I've used cheap cushions and I was uncomfortable. This set up with just a small bungee cord sharpened so that the metal hooks really bite into the tree has been unparalleled in comfort. My knees are never the uncomfortable part now. My feet fall asleep before my knees are in any sort of discomfort.

Also, run your girth hitch as high as you can. This reduces the pull back into the tree

I’m glad I’m a leaner who only sits occasionally for a change of pace!

I mostly lean as well. I’ve yet to have a need for a pad or knee pads. I’m happy about that as I for sure thought I’d be a sitter before I started saddle hunting.

Rolling with the $15 pads from harbor freight. Got the rubber outside so they’re quiet and some sort of foam inside. I move a bit, as in I lean for awhile, sit a bit, etc. Feel like I’d be good all day but the longest I’ve done is 4 hours morning and then 4 at night. The wife and kids annoy me but damn if I don’t like em a bit.
