Help me not buy a cell cam

The reveal is the best one, impossible to find though. People scalp the things.

I bought the Moultrie cell cam that was released last year when it came out, no issues. Keeps me from stinkin' up the place just to check a cam. On it's own plan through the app it is $10 a month.

I think exodus is getting ready to release a cell cam but I haven't seen any reviews. Exodus is usually good customer service wise though.
Exodus has had a cell camera for at least a couple years and they sell out pretty fast. I use their regular cameras and have for a more than a few years and they are great cameras. Customer service is top notch not dout.

Ahh yeah you're right. I saw something on instagram that my brain somehow translated it to product release.

We have a toddler and infant, with time in short supply max efficiency has to be my strategy, so I’m pretty much over any moral qualms, at least for now, with cell cams. To be fair they have helped me close in on deer, but I can’t credit a kill to them yet… but my powers are growing.

I have had crazy good battery life from an older Bushnell.

But for almost any other camera just cough up the money for a solar setup and that sucker is out there indefinitely, and you will recoup solar panel costs with battery savings quickly.

We run a cuddelink system on the home farm, and a buddy just deployed three on public, and honestly once it’s dialed in that’s a heck of a system. It’s real fun.

Whatever you buy, get familiar with their data plan and how it compares to others, because if it’s out there 8 months a year that adds up.

I’d do it. That’s a good deal. SPYPOINT is one of the only that gives you 100 pics for free every month. When season comes in then I will spend the $10 per camera per month to have unlimited pics cuz it could be super pertinent info! Lithium batteries last all season. If anything, these cell cams actually keep me scouting more than I normally would cuz I am addicted to finding the perfect camera set up! If I deploy one and it doesn’t do that well after 2 weeks , you better believe I’m back out there making some adjustments. Essentially I hunt deer all year long. It’s just with a camera during the off season. Do it do it do it do it!

Just picked up 2 more spypoints Tuesday. I also have a reveal. I like that I don't have to pay a monthly subscription if I don't want and still get 100 free pics. No issues so far except spypoint doesn't take discover when I tried to upgrade to HD or more photos. They ended up giving me unlimited for a month for free.

Just downloaded the new firmware on my 2 cams from last year and it was easy.

That ok wait and see when you get to 62 years old and see what your brian will translate. It's and adventure everyday.

I have 4 spypoint micro cells cams and have for 2 full seasons now starting a third. Yes they are cheap, yes the picture quality isn’t great, but they get the job done just fine and are the only camera I know of that come with a free plan. I would never have purchased if I had to pay for them to function. I like the a la cart approach and have had great experiences with spypoint, including customer service replacing a device.

Honestly, it's all relative.. One persons "experience" shouldn't deter you from trying or buying anything.
Now, I guess the biggest thing you need to figure out is, what are you willing to spend, and what to you plan to achieve differently with a cell cam vs trailcam?
I'm biased here, as I'm a spypoint user. I'm also cheap. So I started buying off of ebay over the past year, I bought all of my current cell cams but one from ebay on the cheap. I got one camera that gave me issues and I contacted spyppoint, was completely honest about where I bought it and they still replaced it for free.
I have 6 spypoint cameras and 4 cell links, I did not pay more then 60$ for anyone them. I also don't pay any service or additional photos.... I believe they are the only service that offers a free plan.

Another thing that shouldn't be overlooked is the ability, without any paid plan or photos being sent, to have your camera check in once a day with an update on its battery life and memory card status so you know its still out there functioning taking photos. When I go pull cards on my spy points I am usually very confident that they were on and working, even if I have filled my monthly photo allotment, free or paid.

Even better deal:

I may bite the dang bullet. At that price it's just about the same as any other cam I've bought.

@Jwiggins762, you gonna show me how to use the thing? How's spypoint's app?

Yep I got 4 of them, I haven't had a whole lot of issues with the app. Pretty simple

I like the spypoints, I have 6 micros and I can’t complain about the 100 free pics a month per camera. I’ve had issues with 2 of them but after contacting Spypoint about the issues I had new cameras mailed to my house within about a week so their customer service was good as well. Only thing I pay for is the 50 hd pics for $5.
Pics below are ones I selected for hd, at the next transmission the photo quality gets updated. The first pic is a standard quality and the second is hd, different pics but shows the difference.
