Gonna be moving to Virginia this summer. I've only hunted in Ohio and don't know anything about Virginia. I'll be moving to northern part of the state, my wife got a job in Front Royal, and we don't even know where we will be living yet let alone where I will hunt this next year. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Saw this Bumper Sticker on a pick up: Yea it's my truck and no I'll Not Help You Move..

I don't think you'll have a hard time finding a place to hunt in Front Royal. You'll be right next to Shenandoah and Winchester.

Yeah... good luck in NoVa... the traffic is quite amazing and People’s arrogance is impressive. I only lasted 3 years and bailed....lol

I made it two years in Arlington and peaced the heck out. Fun bars, a handful of my college buddies, lots of pretty women, and that's about the only nice things I have to say about that area.

I did a little hunting the burbs like that Tethrd dude that makes the youtubes. It got me some venison but overall that experience just flat out sucks.

I put in some windshield time to get down into Maryland swamps and out into the VA mountains. That was better, I was starting to get into some promising stuff but I didn't really get to hunt much when I lived down there and never killed a buck. Didn't help I was auditing the federal government with fiscal year end 9/30. 60-80 weeks in busy season, 7 days a week we were expected to be there for two months straight. I had to call off sick just to get a Saturday or two in the rut.

I worked in Front Royal for about 3 years, only commuted though. Friend of mine that worked with me had good success in GR Thompson WMA. His property bordered it so I’m sure that helped him a bit as well. Only a few miles from there so maybe worth a scout. Another guy hunted a bit of GW Nat. Forest but said the coyote population had done drastic damage to the deer population.

Hello from Northern Virginia! There are quite a few wma's out in the front royal area as @Red Beard and @BuckTown stated. Thompson is a good one, I've hunted there multiple times and have friends who have property around that area. Getting permission to hunt private land is difficult but not impossible. My advice would be to hit up some wineries and try making friends. Also, I know many people hate it but leasing and hunt clubs are big out that way. You might have more luck locking down a private parcel if you offer a bit of coin. The area out there is hilly with some smaller mountains(blue ridge). There are many farms out that way so if you're good at controlling yotes that might be an in for you. I'm kinda envious, I love that area out there. Good luck. Hit me up if you've got more questions
