Hickory Creek Koolaid

Does it have the same punch as a crossbow bolt? Ive seen crossbows blow right thru a deers shoulder and come out the other side.

no.

It's equivalent to a long draw 70lb bow though. My compound set at 70/30 shoots a 510 grain arrow at 280fps. So does the mini. It shoots it's stock arrows (350grains or so) at 330fps.

Finally got around to putting mine together (bought it used). And realized that it is epoxied together, instead of bolts. I could not pull it back initially, I loosened the limbs and can now pull back, but my aim is way off. 13 inches over and 6 inches down.

I know I will have to adjust the string loop for the arrow. Curious if using a caliper to measure the limb bolts would be an accurate way to determine if they are even on both sides.

I tightened mine all the way down them backed it off 2 equal turns on each limb

Ah. Then it is not equal at the moment. It's off a bit.

Anyone shooting non-mechanicals? I'm shooting hybrids at the moment. But would like to make the switch.
Equal is in the eye of the bow holder...

I've shot Tooth of the Arrow 4 blade 100 gr. and I've shot Muzzy Trocars 100 gr. too and both shoot like a field point. Tooth of the Arrow can be easily sharpened with their sharpener and the Muzzy's have replaceable blades.

I'm gonna throw on some magnus stingers on. I'll report back. I just prefer solids over mechs.
Thanks
I think I high shoulder shot a buck this year wtih my mini...feeling like it deflected through the backstrap. I was shooting Hypos...I wonder if there would have been any difference with a COC head. Course I've run every scenarioud through my head at this point it time...so its just another one...

Had it been a good shot. It wouldn't have mattered...

I also like fixed blade broad heads over mechanicals. But, when shooting the Mini, I could not find a fixed that shot consistently accurate. I tested Magnus Stinger Buzzcut, my favorite broad head, and G5 Montec. I hunted with Rage Hypodermic and they performed well on a doe kill.

I also shoot Rage Hypodermic out of my Raven R26. Tagged out with an 8 Point and 10 Point. Ravin R26 is a tack driver and my go to killing machine. Two kills heart shot and the 10 pt was a double lung. No issues with Hypodermics.

Give the Tooth of the Arrows a shot. I'm not affiliated but just think the're a really good tough broad head that shoot well. It seems like they have discounts all the time too. They're a small diameter 4 blade and the holes they cut almost look like a 1" diameter paper punch went through the deer. You'll be underwhelmed when they arrive and you see how small they are but they definitely do the trick.

I took a look, nice looking product. Now I'm torn between them and Magnus Black Hornets.
What are the thoughts on serrations? Needed, gimmick?

I just look at serrations as harder if not impossible to sharpen.

Fred Bear in The Archer's Bible said serrations get filled with hair and reduce cutting organs. No good.

First blood on my mini.
