Hickory Creek Koolaid

The 2 simplest solutions are either to:

Live with taking 2 seconds to remove and reattach a quiver in exchange for a streamlined design

Tie a loop onto the stirrup to use as an "extender" so you can cock it without removing the quiver.

I put the Trophy Ridge Quiver on and it’s not bad in shoes. Don’t know if it will work with boots. It’s not hard to get the Kwikee off but the trophy Ridge is really easy. I might just mount the kwikee on my pack. A strap might work in a pinch.

Thanks

Check out post 630. The kwikee bracket works spectacular. Just got to look around for t hem...

So I read through this thread again looking for suggestions to replace the stock scope.

I like the idea of a red dot, but if the dot washes out the sight picture in low light, there's no point. That said, I think I would like a crossbow scope with an illuminated reticle for low light to get the best of both worlds...

I saw the following scopes mentioned:
Hawke XB1
Vortex Crossfire II

Those that have hunted with these scopes, would you still recommend them for the mini?

Are there any other suggestions that I missed or ones that haven't been mentioned yet?

This will be second season with the hawke and it held up great. Banged it around plenty and held zero. Took one deer with 1 minute of legal light left and wouldn’t have been able to do it without the illuminated reticle. Excited to use it again this season.

I think @kyler1945 is the only one who has had problems with the dot washing out the target. I've been able to shoot to and past legal light at a 9" ball target at 40 yards in my yard. I fully plan on hunting with it until such time as it proves inadequate. Too lightweight and easy not to.

fooled around with the mini last night with great results, had been shooting about 8" low at 40 yards last week
so I figured the string and cables stretched, loosened the limb bolts and took two turns on the string and one turn on each of
the cable yokes,
screwed the limbs down all the way, then backed them off 4 turns each
went back to shooting and now high at 25 , adjusted the red dot, then backed off with the optimizer to 30,35 then 40
bow is hitting 9" high at 40, made a new mark on the optimizer dial,
seems with a 25 yard zero, that arrow is still climbing at 40, will have to back off tonight to 50 and 60 and see
so as a result, I am shooting lower poundage than before, bow is easier to cock, shooting flatter/faster with less noise than before
all in all some great benefits from just twisting the string
arrows are accuspine 22" with 125 grain tips,

I have had absolutely no problems with my simple Bushnell Trophy red dot I've had for years I put on my mini. It has adjustable red dot styles from the plain 3mil dot to a lit crosshair which works great for me, especially in zeroing the scope. I sighted to be dead on at 25 yards so I can adjust accordingly for ranges beyond that. My setups are typically in thick areas within20 yards of most deer movement.

If I don't have success by mid season, I may be drinking this koolaid as well. This thread is very convincing...

Interesting. How long have you had your mini? Mine hasn’t stretched yet and it’s almost 2 years old with plenty of shooting.

I've had the mini for just about a year, maybe less,

what kind of sighting system do you use on yours, mine was definitely hitting lower at 40 before I twisted it up

I’ve got a hawke scope on it. I honestly don’t do a whole lot of 40 yard shooting with it but I feel like I would notice hitting low at 30 at least. I’ll definitely keep an eye on it. I mean twisting would be an easy fix. Would there be any long term durability effects from twisting? I wouldn’t think so, but I’m not a huge bow expert.

Anyone know how to tighten these two bolts? I tried to email Jerry but it bounced back. I'm getting a little play in the last section. Maybe I'm over thinking it, but I really don't want to disassemble the rear end of the trigger.

I’m pretty sure that should be some play there. Mine always has had some and no issues with accuracy.

I hope a right handed mini pops up on the classifieds. I don’t even hunt with my crossbow but this thing just looks fun to shoot. You guys have made me want one. I have piles of arrows I could sling out of it for years.

mini arrived today. checked all the hardware and only parts with any play were the grips. once i snugged those everything was tight. slapped it together and stepped outside...3 shots at 20 yards...3 bullseyes. glad i pulled the arrows after each shot otherwise i'd be replacing 2 arrows. as many have mentioned the scope won't win any awards but for slaying deer itll do. for now i have no plans to spend money on an upgrade unless at some point in the future it won't hold zero. initial impressions are i'm thrilled with this purchase.
