Hickory Creek Koolaid

Well I did it . I picked up a mini at the Great American Outdoor Show. I called Jerry weeks before and told him to save me one. I went yesterday and bought it. I have shot them before and I like the way they shoot and how compact they are. It definitely will be great for saddle hunting .

I'm not familiar with holosights at all....if this is a silly question. Since one is shooting archery equipment and as long as you have a good sight picture and the proper size dot, what advantages is there to using a high priced model over a lower price model? I understand that higher end means quality but I don't know if a $350 model is that much better than $150 in this application. What say ya'll?

I don’t think your logic is flawed at all. $150 can get you a very decent red dot. The scope that comes with the mini probably isn’t even worth $25 but it works fine.

I am looking at the Vortex red dots.
The Spitfire is a prism sight. The rectal is etched on glass. I think you have to be centered looking through it like a scope. Advantage is it works without a battery.
Anyone use this on a Mini?

I have one on my mini. Great sight, the illumination is only used in the grey light of morning and last 15 or so minutes at night

Thanks.
What model do you have 3x or 1x?
Mine is the 1x with a button battery on top. I see the new version uses AAA battery on the bottom, cheaper if you have to replace. Three years and still using the original battery. It's mounted all the way forward on the rail.

Anyone tried this sight on their HC yet? I can put a FF3 on mine, but I really like this one on my single barrel 20 ga ultralight turkey gun and thought it may also work fine for this application.

Only considerations are “will any buttons on the left side of scope clear the string when it flies past?” and “will the reticle be too bright at low light conditions ti be able to shoot a critter?”

If it checks those boxes it’ll be fine. I bet we can come up with some “will it fit measurements”. I’ll poke around my scope later

Good point on clearance, I will check mine this evening, but I think it will be fine there. It has a smaller width than a scope.

The dot has 11 intensity settings, so it works well from zero light to full bore sun, so it is better than my FF3 in that regard.

AT3 makes some good stuff for the money. I have 3 of their ARO reflex sights

Confirmed it will work perfectly fine on the R hand bow, likely OK on a L as well. I love the AT3 on my Midland Backpacker 20 ga, so will likely put another on the HC and let her eat!
