Hickory Creek Mini In-Line Vertical Crossbow

Good deal. Slower is quieter and easier to cock, but I liked the flatter trajectory at 150. I don't use a rangefinder, and our little 50lb does are small targets.
I think I read your shooting it sighted in to one yardage correct? Max effective range 40 yards?

Just ordered mine today, hoping to shoot a turkey and a hog with it before season goes out.
Read up on the regs about legal arms for turkeys before you take it out. 99% sure it's either illegal in Alabama or at least illegal on the WMAs I hunt. I remember thinking that, and then being disappointed I couldn't use it.

It'd make a fine pig sticker though, for sure

I did look into that and was a little disappointed for most wma's that i couldn't use it but for at least one(haven't looked into all of them)foreverwild tract it doesn't mention it. But under Outdooralabama.com it says crossbows are legal for turkeys.

Maybe call your wildlife lawyer to get a ruling on this? Make sure you are on the right side of the road as well. :D Rules are confusing here as well.

Yeah, forever wild is less regulated because it's less utilized.

If it's the parcel I think it is. Good luck. It does hold a few turkeys. They're hard to find and harder to call though.

Same here. Having a blast shooting it in my "indoor range". Can't wait for it to warm up so I can take it outside!

I have no crossbow experience to compare it to, but this thing is light, handy, and fun!

Yea i also have never shot a crossbow, but it feels like its going to be easy. Im ready for it to get cold and stop raining.

Some thoughts on my HCMIVC (we need more acronyms around here!):

I moved the scope back to its farthest (from the front) spot on the rail. This improved the eye relief, or sight picture, or whatever the technical term is for seeing the full display through the scope really well. This allows my cheek to rest perfectly on the protective slide and my face stays away from the string.

I had some problems with my scope alignment L/R at first. I think it may have shifted during shipping. The note said it was sighted in at 10 yards. Shooting at home at 5-8 yards it was way left. I also noticed that the string and the top silencer were really close to touching the scope. Didn't seem good to me so I ended up moving the two square bases that the rings sit on as far to the right of the mount as they would go. Folks that have experience with crossbows and scopes please let me know if this is s bad idea.

Once again, no crossbow experience for comparison, but this thing is fun! I love how easy it is to cock with no tools needed. It is so light and handy. Cheesy as it may seem but it looks and feels pretty badass. When I raise it up to my cheek it feels what I imagine raising an MP5 feels like. My buddies came to check it out and one immediately said "that thing looks like a submachine gun!" I'm not one to normally care about such novelties. Just thought I'd share to see if others experienced a similar feel.

It is louder than I expected. Not sure that it is louder than any other crossbow, but definitely louder than my regular bow. I also smell a whiff of gun powder after I shoot. Is that just my mind messing with me?

Shot mine this evening for the first time and had the same problem, got it sighted in at 30 yards shoots about 3in high at 20. Im having a little trouble with 40. Going to take a little more practice. I also noticed after shooting 4 or 5 times it would start to loosen up where you attach it at. But its pretty sweet, and im ready to take it hunting.

Call hickory creek for help / they respond quickly . My scope was loose too. The scope must aim slightly towards the center of the bow. The scope set up is different I have not had time to set mine up right after it moved. It is a fun bow. Great service But the scope setup is different
@Nutterbuster has had it for awhile. Any input from the expert

I remember reading about how the scope is to the right of the string and is sighted parallel to the arrow. If you are precision shooting, the arrow will land to the left of the POA by about an inch or two. Just compensate by aiming right 2 inches. Otherwise, the trajectories and sight paths become confusing. For deer hunting it really doesn't matter since the horizontal offset is constant out to infinity.
