Honest question, how many people actually kept their ESS?

Looking to buy a 2 panels saddle for Christmas, so I been keeping my eyes out for a used Recon/ESS in the classified. I noticed ALOT more ESS for sale, rarely any Recon and most of them are either trading for sizes or had an extra. So just based on what my eyes tell me. The ESS was the hottest thing but people on average didn't like it as much so they passed it on (at lower price too). I could be wrong, maybe it could be that there are alot more ESS in existence hench the frequent ads. So how many of you actually kept your ESS? Right now I'm 70% sure on sticking to wait for a Recon deal. But I'm a fan of John Ebethart and his recommendation do carry alot of weight with me.

Honestly sold mine before I even tried it on a tree. Didn't like the plastic clips and the waist belt design really is awful compared to the recon.

Where are the plastic clips?

Kept mine. It’s not perfect. That said, neither was my Mantis, Phantom, Evolution, TX5, Ambush, or Flex. I think that you can find something wrong with any saddle if you want to. The plastic clips just hold the 2 panels together and are removable if not liked, so that isn’t a huge issue. Saddle hunters seem to be naturally inquisitive, hence my 7 saddles, 7 climbing methods, 5 different stick attachments, ... We seem to always think the grass is greener somewheres else, and at times it is just really green poison ivy.

Sold mine after the first sit. Far too loud and clanky to be of any use to me

Ok still have mine and love it. I have made some modifications to it but who doesn’t mod a saddle haha. I swapped the bridge for a diy utilibridge. Stealth stripped a lot of the D rings. Made a larger kydex clip for the back (use the small clips up by the D rings). And currently have the leg straps folded up and not used.

To be honest, I think I would have been happy with the other two 2 panel saddle options also, just prefer the 2 panel design. I’ve just always supported and liked tethrd.

I was asking the same thing. I called Tethrd and asked what the would recommend. The ESS or the Menace. Before i could even finish the last syllable, Menace was what they recommended. Now that might mean they are trying to push a certain product or perhaps the ESS is indeed inferior to their other offerings. I took their advice i snagged the Menace. I am a one and done kinda guy and even if it’s uncomfortable I will tinker till it works......within the limits of safety of course.
