Wanted to open up a discussion about all things HHG2, starting with attaching the bow to the pack while hanging in the tree.

I usually pull my bow up, but now am considering putting the bow on the pack for the climb down so that all I have to do is gather my sticks and walk out when I hit the ground.

It’s a pain to hold bow and try to attach the straps one handed. Anyone come up with a good method?

I have a couple of ideas to try:
1) temporarily hang bow off of the same hook as pack with some cord or gear tie to have both hands to work
2) replace buckles with ghooks which may make one handed operation easier

Anyone got a good technique to share?

I saw this on a you tube video, attach a small paracord prusic on your tether. Clip pack on tether after you get on platform and attach to bridge. Pack hangs directly in front of you. Take bow off. Hang bow and then hang pack as usual.

Watch at about the 6:30 mark. I am not sure how well it would work with a bow. Might have to start with a higher tether and then adjust it after getting finished with set up.

I’ll watch but what I ended up doing is putting the bow on the pack before putting the quiver on the bow. Made it a lot easier to strap the bow without the quiver attached.

I gotcha. I think I misunderstood the original desire. I thought you were wanting to eliminate pulling it up and lowering it. I have the same desire but I haven't worked out the logistics yet. If a tree has a puddle or something around it or it a flooded area I don't want my bow on the ground. Always feels clumsy lowering it and getting it to lay how I want it and try to avoid vines and you know the drill.
