How close to the property line?

That's a pretty bad argument unless the guy doesn't have a hunting licenseor it's a lottery location. Nobody is ever going to get mad at that guy.

What really gets the ire of people is when people place stands and orirent them in a way that the primary and sometimes only shooting lane is on the side you don't have permission on.
That's pretty clearly something entirely different from hunting up to the line. Hunting up to the line means that you and the arrow you shoot stay on the right side of the line, and the deer you shoot is on that side as well. Where the deer goes after being shot is another matter - and how you handle planning for recovery is subject subject to discretion based on the situation and local laws, relationships, and customs.

Since deer usually go downhill when hit it would be nice if the private is higher rather than lower.

I have kinda enjoyed hunting property lines. They often have a habitat break of some sort, and pressure coming from two different directions means they often represent the greatest depth of cover. I’ve had some bad experiences hunting them, however, with pissy landowners. The best part is, each time someone had a problem with me hunting close to the line, it was because they had a stand on the line!!!

I didn’t say shoot over the line. Nor would I. I’ve just known people to be pricks if your hunting the line, but they would have no problem doing it on their side, so why should I?

I'm somewhat confused at this response. You'd quoted my reply about guys set up on the line with their only usable shooting lanes facing where they don't have permission. Maybe you meant to quote someone else? (@SNIPERBBB ? I agree his comparison seemed a bit off)
